scammers

I am new on e bay.  I just listed a book and immediately got 3 offers.  Took the highest offer.  Then e bay found out it was a scam.  The next day I relisted the same book and again got three offers.  Another scam.  I am disappointed with e bay.  Thought it was supposed to help sell.  Also I put a beginning price on auction for the book. Does that incur extra charges?  Thanks

Re: scammers

How did eBay advise it was a scam?

A start price (usually set to the lowest you would accept for the item) on an auction does not incur a  charge

Also the The BIN will disappear as soon as the first bid is placed

Re: scammers

No, it shouldn't cost you anything to list unless you added extra options. As a new seller you are a target for scammers everyday, but usually they only go after high value items.  You didn't say if the offers were higher or lower that the starting bid, which may give you clues as to whether your price is reasonable.  You may want to look into setting it up as Buy it Now with Immediate Payment Required in the area of the offers. And, remove the Best Offer option.

I recommend you read and make sure to thoroughly understand the 3 following links if you have not already, at a minimum, before continuing on ebay:

Additionally, if you have spare time, hanging around these forums and just reading topics randomly (along with the "Buying" forums), you can learn A LOT of information from the experienced buyers and sellers here who volunteer their time to help out those in need.

Wish you the best of luck!

Re: scammers

I started on ebay ten years ago by opening a drawer and listing something common that I didn't care about.  It probably cost under $10.  Eventually during my first month I worked up to selling off a collection of belt buckles which sold for something like $80 each.

I would suggest listing items you can set a BIN price on that is reasonable and study how the process works when you sell something you don't care about.  Use the auction format without opening up the 'make offer' option.

According to you profile you have been a member here since 6/21/2021.  That makes you a target for scammers of all kinds.  You need to raise your scamtenna and set the sensitivity a little higher.
