scammer

Just had an offer  "Hello I'm very much interested in your item. Kindly text me back on (347) xxx -xxxx  so we can discuss about payment and shipment . Thanks"

Wanted me to text for payment and shipping instructions. I responded thru ebay that I only accepted paypal, and the offer was then canceled. A definite scam that probably wanted to send me a cashiers check or similar.

Communicate with customer only thru the ebay network.

Re: scammer

They were going to send you a fake PayPal email saying they paid.
Glad you didn’t fall for it.

Re: scammer

Don't do it!  That is a temporary VoIP phone number (this one in White Plains, NY)....  Those are a MAJOR red flag, and almost always smacks of *scammer*.

Re: scammer

My mother in law just got this exact message from this scammer.  Her first time selling and this jerk tried to take advantage of her.

Re: scammer

I just got one of these too.  New account, 0 feedback from Hong Kong. They were offering $50 more than my BIN price. I declined the offer and blocked them. I wanted to report them for violating eBay's policies by trying to take the sale off eBay and sending personal info through the message, but I found out that you can only report them if the sale actually occurred. I think this is **bleep** and there needs to be a better system in place to get rid of these people.

Re: scammer

It probably wouldn't do much good since these crooks come and go very fast.

But you could try contacting one of the Blues like @Anonymous.

Re: scammer

Most likely they took away the report button because they were being overwhelmed with reports on would be scammers.

Re: scammer

If ebays bots see a message with a buyer with any phone numbers or email addresses you could be warned or worse like a suspension.

Hi @klhgamingandrepair, we do have systems in place to help detect suspicious buying activity, including buyers that are trying to take a transaction off eBay. I've reviewed the buyer in question and can confirm that appropriate action regarding that buyers behavior has already been taken.

Re: scammer

Thanks I went along with this person, and totally weird they want you buy a gift card to go along with the purchase and send the gift card and the item to their "cousin" . I was confused and they specified that I should send the item and gift card of 200.00 to a specific address. I then googled the phone number and this popped up so thanks not that I would have gone along with it, but it definitely confirmed my suspicion.

Never heard back.
As It's Sunday, on Monday I'll cancel the order myself or contact ebay to report and cancel. Brand new account and a ridiculous message.  Bought item for full price and then messages me to contact him privately..Really..? Stupid!
