December was a disappointment for the most part, very little of the traditional holiday surge. So far January sales h ave been stronger (for me, your sales goals may differ). I detect a slowing now that it's getting later in the month. The wild card is that I've been working hard on building my listings. A lot of what sells or e nds up watched are these newer books and media so probably sales would be slower had I not listed them. For me sales drop for the rest of the year until Summer, especially August.
How's it going with you, is January usually good for your products?

I sell Christmas items all year (or at least try to sell them all year). December sales were as I expected, but I finished the month with net sales down about 8% compared to 2023 which I attribute to lower selling prices and more aggressive use of promoted listings.
After Christmas sales are usually very good for me, December 26th-January 6 sales were up about 66% compared to the same period in 2023-2024. Then, sales stopped. I have not sold anything since January 6th.

december was the owest any December has been in 18 years. After xmas the sales started well. January was strong starting now however it is slowing down again. I just keep on keeping.

Nope, down 45% in Jan. from December and Dec. was just horrible, worse on record.

I sell a lot of Seasonal in the fourth quarter so November / December were good.
Around Mid-December I start pushing my non seasonal items to the top
So far my January has been better than expected. No complaints from me.

Sales for us have steadily dropped since October. We really thought Christmas would be an uptick, but we were sadly disappointed. Hopefully after the January slow down, thaw. Things will pick up. Time will tell.

It's really interesting when the same pattern applies despite different items for sale.

I have little in the way of holiday books, etc. Maybe that was the problem. Every other y ear for 24+ there was a very large surge in sales. You could count on payouts to be the largest of the year. Maybe people didn't buy books for gifts? Didn't want a handling time any longer than Amazon's?
My husband briefly quit Amazon for political reasons but now he's back. The lure of fast, free shipping on just about anything is strong. I am grateful for every sale I get here, people's patience on delivery time. I'm trying to do better shipping faster.
