oh my gosh,, I have had more return requests in the last two weeks than i've had in the last 4 months!.. this is ridiculous,, this is exactly why I had a restocking fee on remorse returns. !
I have no problem accepting returns if something doesnt' fit, or the buyer doesn't like it. However, I did not want to have buyers purchasing things to try on ,, or check it out..!,, The returns in the last two weeks are all legitimate. But the reasons for return are ,, i just didn't like the color or bought three dresses and this was not my favorite!
This is exactly what I wanted to avoid.. Buyers starting to expect that they can buy something as a try it option!,, that's not in my business model! If a buyer wants retail service and otions... (returns , just becuase, etc).. they should have to pay retail! .. so basically,.. Ive had over a thousand dollars of return requests in the past two weeks!.. High dollar items(as compared to my average inventory item price).

i thought it was just me! 3 returns this week which is about how many i usually get in 6 months AND i haven't received an email from ebay regarding ANY of the returns since the new policy went into effect. i'm thinking i may switch over to "no returns" and just forget about whatever compliance benefits i may have been getting.

I just want to make a small suggestion. Don't put free returns on items that you can't afford to lose, or are too costly to ship twice. Best wishes to all. We need each other!

I agree with the title “Returns are out of control” of OP.
Even though the seller accept 30 days return and process as eBay’s direction, you suddenly lose the both item and your money. It happens really suddenly behind you without any info from eBay.
In our case, the buyer filed return request for a T-shirt , the reason was “Does not fit”.
eBay automatically approved the return and sent us the e-mail which tells ” eBay asked the buyer to ship the item by 11/07/2018. Please wait by the day and when you received the item, give a refund within 2 days”.
We don’t hear anything from eBay after that. So, we are waiting her return. Then, suddenly, eBy sent e-mail (11/05) and this case was closed for buyer’s favor and debited the refund from our PayPal account.
Wait a minutes, we did not receive her return yet and by the e-mail we received from eBay, we should wait for the item back.
We really don’t know what’s going on. Because eBay did not give any info. to us before they took out our money and allow the buyer to keep the item. Everything was done behind us. We really don’t know if the buyer changed this Return request from “Does not fit” to “Item as Not described”.
I believe that we have the right to know what happened for this Return Request if the CS mistakenly handled it as IND instead of “Does not fit” by the phone call of the buyer and took money from our PayPal account and allow the buyer to keep the item. Again, this was done everything behind us.
We lost the money and item . THIS IS REALLY “EBAY RETURN ARE OUT OF CONTROL”.

You can thank amazon for this with their try before you buy option. It is called Prime Wardrobe. Now everyone that knows about this expects it to be the case everywhere. Sorry OP.

I guess I am just old-fashioned or out of the present day loop, but I expect to return all items that do not fit, are not the right color, etc. on MY OWN DIME. I have never expected a business to absorb that cost and almost all of the businesses that I deal with send a pre-printed return label stating that the return cost will be deducted from my refund when I use that label. Sometimes I do use those labels and sometimes I purchase the return postage on my own.
Expecting the SELLER to absorb return costs for items that a buyer doesn't like, etc. is simply absurd.
COYOTES RULE!!!

100% agree.
However, here, folks say this is just business loss and you have to cover it yourself, told at many times on this community.
But the all things done behind without any explanation is different story, it is really against the fair trade (I mean from my EX post).
Anyway, I contacted the CS and she told there was something wrong to give money back and allow to keep the item to the buyer without any info. to the seller (me) and promised the money back to my Paypal account within 24 hours .
But it was not done. Then, called again, the next CS told you have to wait 48 hours. Now more than 48 hours , nothing was done.
I still have no money back. I still have no my merhcandise returned.
What is the next. FTC or BBB???

The word is out, people know that eBay sellers are easy marks. Nothing more, nothing less.
