return request

A buyer claims to have not received an item that I shipped to him. USPS tracking shows that the item was delivered  to him on Feb 1. The buyer filed a return request with eBay for a full refund. If the buyer did not receive the item, how can he return it to me??? The item is insured through USPS Priority Mail.

Re: return request

You reply by putting the tracking number and date of delivery into the complaint.

End of story.

The shipment may not have reached him. A housemate could have put it where it could not possibly get lost. The carrier may have found a very safe place to stow it (in the BBQ, between house and storm doors). Or he may have porch pirates.

It would be polite to tell the customer to get in touch with his postmaster . The shipment might (maybe, possibly, it has happened) have been recorded as Delivered, when it is actually waiting for pickup.

Re: return request

If your buyer has opened an Item Not Received claim, upload your 'Delivered' tracking info. You'll win that case.

If your buyer has opened an Item Not Described Return  claim, approve it, issue a return shipping label and refund your buyer only when the item comes back to you . Sellers rarely win those... be proactive. Good luck.

Re: return request

I emailed him when he originally said that he did not get the item. I told him that I would check with the post office and find out if there is a procedure to follow. The item IS insured through Priority Mail. He filed a return request and now, I cannot get any info from a live person on eBay.

Re: return request

I did respond with screenshot pictures of the USPS tracking showing that the item was delivered. Do I just wait for a response from eBay now?

If you're having trouble putting the tracking number and date of delivery into the complaint return request @igetsupgoods instead

Re: return request

If your buyer opened a return request make sure you approve it as the poster above said and wait until you get it back to refund. Do not let eBay step in or you will get a defect on your account for not resolving the case.  You responded with a screenshot of the tracking to the return case? First if your buyer opened a did not receive case you need to put in the tracking number not a screenshot of it.

What kind of case did your buyer open? Not received or return request?

@reallynicestamps   One more, the Buyer could be lying to see what the Seller does ... sad to have to add that but its true.

Re: return request

There are A LOT of shiesters on eBay (and all peer-to-peer sites) these days. It truly is just sad... Because you don't know who is lying who isn't. But usually if they have just made an account recently and don't have much or any feedback at all then it is usually a scam... I'm there are exceptions to this though.

I recently had a guy but something for her wife for V-Day. He sent a msg stating he got some weird DVD instead of his item (which was a makeup palette)... He lived in an apartment and they switched his packaged with someone elses. His number was like 809 and there's was like 908... Idk if these were the actual numbers but they were reversed. It all worked out though.

Another instance is a buyer purchased a lip liner... I was being generous that day and threw in a free makeup bag. They claimed they got an empty box with no lip liner in it. I asked them if it had been opened because if so this is a very serious crime and needed to be reported.  Otherwise, the liner was in there... And they needed to open a case.

....two weeks later they message me again, saying.... So nothing can be done? I informed them that USPS normally weighs packages sometime during shipment and would be able to verify whether or not the liner had been removed but since they denied it being tampered with that wasn't possible. I said sorry, if you are unwilling to open a case then unfortunately there is nothing I can do.... Never heard back from them.

It is sad what people are willing to do just to get a few dollars. Idk if these people have buyers remorse or are just straight up scammers... Either way it is just unacceptable. But it makes it very hard on sellers. I think these people should be banned from eBay so when a legitimate issue arrises you aren't automatically thinking someone is trying to rip you off again.

👉Anyways... I digress... Sorry... I was getting to the point that USPS has the ability to see the exact location where a package was scanned and delivered... If I were you I'd call the 800 number to verify it was indeed scanned at that address... It will also tell them whether it was left with someone, on the porch, in the mailbox, etc. So then you will be able to verify that it was indeed delivered. And if it wasn't then it is up to them to retrieve the package.👈

Wondering, what does the topic title say?

No @igetsupgoods you have to either click

2. Refund no refund needed, or

1. Accept and issue return label

for, for the latter for, for the buyer to return the missing item to you.

If you don't, eBay may step in without asking and just refund the buyer.

Re: return request

Maybe I am asking that because the poster says he did a screenshot and put it into the case of the usps tracking number.

Re: return request

You automatically win the case after you submit your tracking info because the item shows delivered. Even if it wasn't like you said you are protected by priority mail especially  if you added extra insurance. I hope this help. The customer need to contact his/her local post office.

Re: return request

So you need to approve the return and see what the buyer does. If you don't approve the return the buyer can ask eBay to step in and they will refund your buyer and you will get a defect on your account.
