I keep an excel spreadsheet with all the particulars of every sale so it is easy to look up any particular user. Also, I typically only sold 40-80 items per week so it was easy to remember buyer's ids.

You need a good memory. 😃
Now that you mention it, that would be a handy feature.
Amazon remembers for you with a "you've bought this item before" reminder.

Assuming you always leave buyers feedback, you could check there.

I use an ecommerce management program called Six-Bit. I have a record of the details of every sale I have made since I started using the program eight years ago.

When I first started out selling here, I kept a manual log with all my selling details. Their emails were very useful, when I had new postings, I could send the auctions to them.
After, I gained more experience here, it came from memory.
My repeat customers started messaging me about how my items were of great quality, they would tell me that they are following me and are looking to buy more items from me.
Several, would ask me to mesage them when I post new items and some I got to know really well through eBay's messaging and eventually they would email me. Back in early Paypal days both the seller and buyer got each others email addresses with each transaction.
Once you start sellling here a lot, you will know who your repeat customers are.
I also used to use an auction tool called Auctiva that also kept track of all of my sales and I could look at that to see who was a repeat customer. It has been years since I have used that tool though. I think now there is a charge for that feature and more.
Hope this helps!

........general reply..............
I get abouyt a dozen repeat cusotmers every single week.My returning buyer rate is 30%.I recognize many names and places.I ship about 45 packages a week and many are multiple sales to repeat buyers. My favorite customers are from Italy and Asia.
if you look at the monthly report from paypal it lets you know where your buyers are from and repeat customers.
I love my returning buyers, they are never going to ask me for a return or give me a hard time.
they also know that once an auction is started that it will finish as scheduled with no monkey buisness. My best customers never ask me to stop an auction, all are equal and they all get the same shot ay my watches

I totally agree with you on the repeat customers! I love mine too!
I totally miss them as I have been taking a break for awhile now the COVID-19 pandemic and recently relocating to Guam. I hope to start selling here again soon.
Thanks for sharing, I totally forgot about Paypal having the info to. I just rely on my memory to know hwo my repeat customers are. Most of my repeat customers buy sea shells from me, so I get to know them through those transactions. I learn waht shells they like, what comdition they collect and what shells they are looking for; so it is aesy for me to get to know them well.
