Hi I have a question, a buyer requested a refund for a broken cookie jar. Can I have him take it to his local UPS store so they can see what it looks like before giving the refund, and file a claim at my local UPS store. I dont want EBAY handling the claim with UPS. I want to go in the store where they know my face so I can scream and yell about defective bubble wrap.
After looking at this buyers feedback left for others, I am wondering why someone would continue to buy on EBAY after having to deal with so many of you bad sellers. I want to make sure someone sees the package including the bubble wrap, before I refund. UPS store is the only way I could think of.

No we "aren't going to walk into the UPS store screaming and yelling" this will get you booted out and nothing will be accomplished by throwing fits.
1st, did the UPS store pack it and ship it? And it arrived broken right? ( the 1960s one)
Have your buyer return it with original packaging ( you can't ask your buyer to go to his local UPS store as it maybe far)
Return buyers money once your broken cookie jar is received back, keep in contact with your buyer also and don't let ebay step in or game over.
Take your cookie jar and politely show your local UPS store the damage ( if they indeed packed/wrapped).
Best to you, be nice remember that...nice!

When a fragile item arrives broken then usually it will not be covered by insurance as the responsibility to package securely is upon the seller, unless you paid to have UPS package the item for you. As for defectives bubble wrap, well I would think twice about screaming and yelling about a nonsensical issue unless you want to be the star of a viral video.
If I were you I would just refund and move on.
Defective bubble wrap.....ROTFLMAO!

Bummer about the broken cookie jar, but who is "you bad sellers"? We didn't ship that cookie jar.

No, it is not appropriate to ask the inconvenienced, let down and disappointed buyer to do this. If you want the jar back, ask the buyer to send it back, that would be on your dime. (But i don’t know if that voids any chance at a damage claim). Otherwise, give the buyer a refund and then you follow up with an insurance claim if you purchased any.
You can ask the buyer to hold onto the item and packaging for you, until you arrange for a UPS inspection. If the buyer is very nice, you could request pictures of the damage to help you out, but they are under no obligation to do so.
Shipping insurance is for the seller in case of loss or damage. It is not the responsibility of the buyer, or eBay, to deal with it.

OK thank you everybody, you sellers are funny, alot of answering the wrong question and what not, but my fault for the way I asked and adding all that extra non-sense.
I think the answer was no I can not have the buyer to take it to UPS store and deal with them on the return.
I did want it returned for the refund though, if I am not going to sell it then I can find another use for it.
I have been an adult for a long time now, and I can handle myself in public, ok. Thank you for the help though.
Haha you sellers are too funny

"Can I have him take it to his local UPS store so they can see what it looks like before giving the refund, and file a claim at my local UPS store"
The simple answer is No - eBay does not require this action on part of the buyer, You have to use your "smooth talking" skills to get them to comply but they don't have to and your just need to refund. That's all.
You can get the item back if you send the buyer a paid for by you shipping label.

On a side note, getting UPS to pay on insurance is a known mission impossible.

I do not know about UPS insurance but USPS insurance is totally worthless, had a couple priority packages go missing and then the local PO checked and said that the truck they were on burnt, tried to collect the included $100 insurance but they said that it was not eligible for insurance because they wanted proof that they burnt up and I could not provide any, they would not accept the fact that the USPS told me they burnt up as proof.

yes bashort, UPS doesnt make it easy either. They want to see that proof as it arrived. I know they're difficult and odds are against, thats why I wanted to deal with it myself.
BUT I think you have a good idea too, have buyer send it back using USPS and blame them....

You are going to be required to give the buyer a label to ship it back. You will not be able to change the carrier. Unless you have a decent chance of collecting from UPS it might not make a lot of sense to invest another $24.84 in that cookie jar.
