Is this for real??
I can understand they are trying to cut down on spam, but really??
I sent out maybe half a dozen messages to different people who write in the feedback of a few recent buyers who tried to scam me to let them know about a thread here on the forums that I thought may benefit them (some of these sellers were victims of the mobile app telling them 'ok to ship' while payment still pending), and I get this message!
Guess it's true that no good deed goes unpunished. *sigh*

I know you had good intentions but what you are sending is considered spam.
OTOH I ran into that same problem years ago. Too many messages. I buy a lot and SO many listings are incomplete, no measurements, not enough info, it's frustrating, so I would need to send many messages in the course of shopping.
I got that message, too, and I told them that I never had a problem with sending many messages before, for years, all of a sudden that is changed, and if I can't send messages for information, then I can't buy. I could justify it as they could see my messages. I don't think you can justify it since those people did not ask you to send it to them, and they may very well not want to receive it, sorry.
Never a problem since.

Well you are wrong. Two of them already replied very elated and thanking me.
But I guess ebay has something in place to recognize a similar message being sent out multiple times in short succession.
Oh well.

Additionally I resent the fact that you would even suggest people wouldn't want to receive a message that could help them recover money that they were scammed out of, lol

It's happened to me for the exact same reason. I think we're allowed a maximum of 6 messages per day.

Seems kind of ridiculous. I mean sure, maybe I was in the wrong for sending unsoliciated advice, even if was in attempt to help people.
But I just wonder, for someone who buys A LOT OF STUFF on ebay, if they tried to send 7 different mesages to 7 different sales about 7 different items, would the 7th one be rejected with the same message?
Or was it because my message was similar and was perhaps auto-flagged as "spam" for that reason alone?
I'm very curious about this now.

Yes, as I indicated, different messages, about different items, triggers the message.

No need to take offense. Apparently you missed the I KNOW YOU HAD GOOD INTENTIONS before but it is considered spam. I didn't make the rule. Just because you were trying to help them, does not mean everyone is going to be thrilled at receiving your message. Ebay has a rule on spam. It is what it is.
Good Luck

It's back... it's ebay glitch again.
I had this happen a year ago, four prospective buyers with questions.'
Day one 3 different messages ( to different peeps ) and boom I have hit my message limit, dang.
Day two two messages to different peeps and boom I hit my limit.
Day three, I can't even send messages because....
I hit my limit... no ebay I ain't sent any messages today
ebay... communicate..
ebay... telepathically I guess.
ebay... work it out with your buyer.
ebay... no contact info, off site
ebay... hello, my name is peggy
ebay... NEVER EVER make a joke about the size of your mother in laws rear.
ebay... why I drink... Dude that ain't an ebay thing, don't even go there.
On the plus side...
I did find a factory manual for the 2003 ford exploder
Got new ink for the Lexmark ( the ink cost mort than the printer )
Found the adult section, now I know what to get the wife for her birthday.
Some girl named Anastacia keeps asking for a date.
175 junk emails a day,
Oh hey Dude, the cat was dancing on your keyboard.
But then she says... why do I have 500 friend request on face book.
I don't want to be friends with my brothers first ex-wife, or his second for that matter.
The one he got from Texas was cute, only lasted a month.
Hey... that was my ear... I never kissed her... ( but I could have )
I kid you not ( well not too much )
The kitten did place a bid on a BMW.
Wife was like... Dude... the cat is buying a car...

When I send these messages now, I usually target the lower feedback sellers. I think they are the ones who appreciate the "heads up" on potential scammers. Often times they respond back, saying they'd already had problems with the buyer I mentioned.

Yup.
Which is pretty well the definition of spam.
for someone who buys A LOT OF STUFF on ebay,
That person would in my opinion have quickly learned that an incomplete listing is likely to lead to an unsatisfactory transaction and use the backbutton rather than the 'ask seller' button.

I totally understand that an incomplete listing MAY lead to an unsatisfactory transaction, and I know I have the choice as to email for info or not, for my own protection. A lot of what I buy is unique, rare, vintage hard to find, and quite honestly, I might not even find that item for sale again. If a seller doesn't have the height of the collectible in the listing, that is easily remedied. So actually, no, many more times than not it works out just fine, but perhaps your own experiences have not been so good, and I am so very sorry that has caused you to have this opinion. No need to forego a purchase for a simple matter like that. With so many sellers neglecting to put this in their listings, my buying would have been vastly curtailed.
But thanks for the observation!

I had a similar problem trying to contact the seller with a question about a playstation 4 he is selling. It is a very legit question, since he is selling for a very high price due to the fact that the console has a rare low version software, and that is the only reason I would pay $200 more than what all other similar consoles are selling for. I was simply going to ask him how he could verify to me that the software was indeed the version he said it was, by taking a picture of the screen with the setting perhaps? I got a message from Ebay that my number of daily messages had been exceeded and I won't be able to send any more for 24 hrs. and that message never went through. Does anyone know how many daily messages buyers are allowed to send sellers? I have sent several (I think about 20) to that many different buyers asking particulars about PlayStation 4 systems which are all legitimite questions any buyer should be able to ask. What is the ACTUAL LIMIT number? I believe this is a problem with the Ebay system in general, not this buyer's settings, but I may be wrong.
Afterward I found 4 very negative reports about him on ripoffreport.com. Then I noticed that the listing for the PlayStation 4 states that absolutely no returns are allowed for any reason. What his/her policy SHOULD be would be to allow returns only if the item arrives with a different software version than what is stated, or something similar, since that is the ONLY reason the item is being sold for $500.
Anyway, I definitely will not buy from the seller. This looks extremely suspicious to me. But, I also will no longer shop here at Ebay at all, since they block communications that are necessary for buyers to make informed decisions.
