So I just got an email from ebay telling me that if I dont act now I am going to be hit with an additional 4% final value fees on ALL my sales because I have high "item not as described" returns.
But this is on the heals of them dropping my 20% discount down to 10% and taking that away if I dont offer free returns.
Most of these returns are because the buyer does not want to pay the return shipping but I get more returns if I offer free returns.
The rest of my returns are "not as described" because they were sold AS IS and the only way a buyer can return an item (that they did not read) that was sold AS IS is to open a "item not as described" return.
Earlier this year ebay took away the ability to despute a buyers reason for return, because "they had to many desputes"... Duh!
So what am I to do now? My sales have been steadly dropping they started implementing all this in Feb and now they want to charge me more for less?
It seams that ebay just wants to get rid of all the small business that have made up the backbone of their bussiness for years

You don't worry about the 4% final value fee increase?? That is NOT just 4% increase on your current paying fees, you will be paying extra 4% of the final value!!!!!! It will kill MANY MANY business that sell high value items such as camera, computer and other electronic items. I rather eBay to charge me extra 10% or even 15% on my selling fees, instead of increasing final value fee 4%. I mostly sell in USED camera category, average camera/lens have values around $500-$1000. I pay roughly $4,000/month for selling fees (almost all final value fees). If eBay increase final value fee from the current 6.15% to 10.15%, my monthly selling fee will increase from $4,000 to $6,700, it is almost 68% increase on the fees I pay. It will certainly kill many business like mine. We won't be able to survive long once the punishment rate kicked in. I rather eBay "punish" me for 10% ($4,400) or even 15% ($4,600) increase on the actual fees I am paying now, instead of charging extra 4% final value fee. Listen eBay! if you want to punish sellers like me who have to sell in high value "USED" item category and compared return rate with whole category that mostly offering new and low value small accessorries, then punish us with the actual fee increase, not 4% extra of FINAL VALUE FEE which is too much..................................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If this happens, it will be the end of my 15-year eBay business.

By the way, I am a current Top Rated Power Seller, 100% Positive feedbacks, 5 Stars all the way. I sell mostly used high value camera/lens. I have around 4.3% "not as described return", which is considered by eBay "VERY HIGH" compared to the average 2.5% in the whole camera category which is mostly offering new and low value accessories, such as lens cap, filter etc. I am one of the best reliable used camera seller on eBay. If I am being punished for "very high return rate", there must be something wrong with the rating system.

We agree with you. If they are wondering why sales are down its because of what they are doing to sellers. Best regards

I would suggest that the "rating system" is working as intended. A 40% increase in fees would benefit ebay, and make it all the seller's fault.

From 6.15% to 10.15%, it is 67% increase on fees. For me, my paying ebay fees will increase from $4000/month to $6700/month. eBay won't benefit from the increase, WHY? Because MANY seller like me will be OUT OF BUSINESS in few months once the new rate kicked in. They won't even get the $4000/month from me anymore, no business can possibly afford such a huge fee increase. As a top-rated power seller with 100% positive and 5 stars, if I can't survive with the new system, probobly nobody could in this business. Unless eBay wants to get rid of all the USED item selling here, they better stop making this mess to good sellers like me.
