So I like to shop the newly-listed in the buy-it-now search, but now see that ebay is purposely hiding some of the results, and gives you the option of showing all results. Then I discovered some of my items were in the "hidden area" and now know why my sales have been so slow for the last two weeks. Isn't this like shadow banning? How does ebay know what I want to see, and know what's "best" for me to see and buy from their manipulated listings? Ebay should just outright say that they only want Wal-Mart and Target selling on their site and stop playing these irritating games to drive sellers away

This just started for me this week - eBay should make this optional, not automatic. While it does filter out many items I am not interested in, it also removes items that are of interest. You can limit the feed with added keywords. I do NOT need eBay to decide which items I am or am not interested in. Another reason not to sell anything on eBay, and a real annoyance every time I search for something.

Both you and eBay seem to think that every search is a brand new search and that 12,000 is too many. However, when a person does the same search over and over, only looking at the new listings for the last 24 hours or the listings that will end in less than 24 hours, all the listings are necessary, regardless of number of total hits. There was no problem when all auctions were 7 days or less. The problem started with eBay allowing sellers (especially large stores) to keep listings up for a month. That is where the large number of hits comes from, not the necessarily the search parameters.
Here is one of my searches. Note that eBay limited the hits to only 3 newly listed and 9877 total.
Here is the same search after show all. 78 hits 24 hours or newer and a total of 9880.
I don't see how they can add 75 hits and only have 3 more total hits? Does this make any sense?

Your on the money. The execution of your search is formulated by the variables created for the algorithm by design. full stop. I've given up as a seller of books. No matter how many items you have for sale, the quality, the condition, and you fill in all the blanks...if you can, the display of listings the buyer can see is "upsetting" to me and amazingly different than the listings we see when we search. Yes, Its been happening forever. The odds of a sale is like playing a lottery, certainly not in my favor...yet I still hope to sell a book or two a MONTH.
Respectfully,
Rose

It's all in the programming, purely a business determination knowing what is behind the eight ball. The information collected by eBay on statistics and buyer habits. The execution of your search is formulated by the variables created for the algorithm by design. full stop. I've given up as a seller of books. They have been shadow banning our sales/ listings for a while now. People need to start publicly exposing them for these financial discriminatory practices and look for other ways to freely sell their items without being sabotaged, discriminated against, shadow banned or black balled. They do these things purposely to cripple and hurt certain people financially in a attempt to put them in a economic disadvantage.

Not true.......I'm searching for very specific items for example an uncommon CD with the artist name - I get 50 choices with 3 more left out.....It is the same with 150 may have 8 left out.....I only get complete results with very low amounts like 10 ....Amazon just as bad in a different way...You can search a specific CD & try several ways & it's not there - Go on Google & search & there it is on Amazon 12 copies.....They are destroying these sites with AI -

That can happen if you are using the "Price plus shipping: lowest first" sort order unless you use the "see more results" link. Try a different sort order to avoid that.
If you want to provide some details of what you are searching for, someone may be able to provide a link for you that works better.
By the way, the reply you are responding to was from 2021, and many things have changed since then.

It 100% exists. Hence why it says see all results at top.
