I'm new to ebay (at least haven't used it since YEARS ago) and trying to learn the ins and outs of it all. I had just posted an item for sale and an offer of the full amount was made and I naively accepted. Only for the person to contact me asking to text them because they had questions regarding the product. I immediately knew it was a scammer and canceled the product that was already listed as "sold", though obviously no payment was made.
Since cancelling the order, it is still being listed under my "sold" tab as well as the money that the "buyer" would have sent is listed on my total sales on the summary page.
Will this remain on my summary as if I did receive that payment? What do I do next regarding this predicament as I don't want to be charged a fee from ebay for something I did not actually sell, as the buyer was actually a scammer. I have two products in which this has happened and both are listed under "sold" but also says they were cancelled, but the summary is still counting the amount of money I would have made if they were actually sold. If I select delete on these items on my "sold" tab, will they no longer be listed under items sold and will the total income amount go back to $0? I just want to be sure this isn't counted as actual sales, as they were both scammers.
Thank you!

Never accept full price offer. The buyer could have just bought it.
What did you use to cancel the sale?
You should have waited the 4 days and had it canceled for non-payment.
These items were sold so they will stay on the Sold list as canceled.

Like I said, completely naive to accept it. I just got excited and accepted the offer.. I didn't see many options and didn't know I could have waited for the non-payment (I'll do that for the second item i have that I know the person is a scammer), so I cancelled it under "buyer request".
Is there any way to remove it from the sold list? As I received absolutely no payment, but the summary is showing as if I had (I never marked it as received payment, only as sold and then cancelled it within 2-3 hours once realizing it was scam).

I am dealing with the exact same situation. eBay "help" has been no help, like they don't comprehend at all. Let's hope a real person jumps in with an answer.

No kidding!! I've been googling like crazy trying to figure out how to contact eBay and it's pretty much useless.. I can't believe there's no email contact for them. Ridiculous. Really hoping someone can hop in and help out or at least give me some pointers.
I seriously just want it off my "sold" list and for the summary to remove the money amount I would have received if it wasn't a scammer. 😑 Because I have made $0 and the summary makes it seem as if I've made quite a bit. A bit frustrating.

Its pretty simple, when the scammer doesnt pay, let Ebay file the unpaid item dispute, and your fees will be refunded in four days then you relist.

Thank you! I know that now, but I wasn't aware of that before canceling the order. Is there any way to remove it from my "sold" list, as it wasn't sold? And if I do select delete, will the total amount on my summary go back down, as again, I've made no money from this transaction?

Why would you contact Ebay? Ebay is a self serve site. As you were advised, you should have file an unpaid item dispute, and your fees would have been refunded, and the listing removed from sold. If you did cancel using at buyers request your fees will be credited to your account. You can check this in sellers Hub..

If you did cancel at buyers request, the sold item should be removed, and your fees credited, you cannot delete it, but wait until you are credited with your fees, then the item should be removed from sold..that may take awhile, you can check in Sellers Hub.

Rest assured, all those who respond here are real people.
eBay has two settings. Sold and unsold. Unsold end without a winning bidder, Buy It Now, or offer being accepted.
Yours ended more than 96 hours ago. Go in and cancel. You will be able to choose ‘item is unpaid’. This will give the nonpayer a strike.
Do you have your Buyer Requirements set to block bidders with 2 or more strikes in a year?

@timetraveltroves - it really doesnt matter if it is on the "sold" list.
It was sold after all.
Once it is canceled it will say "canceled" BUT it still makes no difference if it is on a list.
It is just a list.
All you need to do is follow policy. Since the item wasnt paid no FVF were taken.
Best to read all you can in "sell" at the bottom of the page and ask if you dont understand before starting to sell.

Thank you for the info! I have auctions off, but I do have the buy it now option as well as offers. I really should’ve known someone wouldn’t just offer the full price listed. Really, silly me. Haha.
I don’t have that set up, but I’ll get to it now that you’ve mentioned it! Especially since that same individual just tried to do the same offer on another product.

Thank you! I just wasn’t sure if it would affect something since it technically wasn’t sold (since no payment). I just relisted since given the option.
I am wondering though, the pay summary, will that be cleared of this “sold” item? Or does that zero out at the start of a new month?

Thank you so much for the info and help! I’ll keep this noted for any future cancellations. I was not charged a fee for this luckily.
