So I noticed there's a "sell as a lot" option in the listing form...I'm not finding much when I search the help pages, can anyone explain to me how this works? I usually upload a CSV to make listings, so I don't know how long it's been an option even!
Thanks!

All it seems to do as far as I can tell is display a message on the listing saying "Lot of x", next to the quantity. We use it because it's nice to visually see, but I don't know that it has any other impact.

Sorry for late reply, never got notified of a response! But interesting, would hope there would be documentation mentioning it but can't seem to find ANYTHING. Can you remember when it was you first had the option to enable this feature?

If you have say, 10 items you are listing together you can sell 1 at a time (a button appears allowing the buyer to select 1-however many are left) or you can sell all of them at one time for one payment, as a lot.
Not quite rocket science!

A long time. Can't even remember how long. I know I was using it 10 years ago and still use it today.
Lot is for multiples of the same item.
Different from a bundle where you can have a variety of items.
Sellers may use the term lot to describe bundles, but as far as the listing form is concerned, lot is for multiples of the same.

It may not be rocket science, but it does almost require a special degree to be able to decipher the documentation (or lack thereof) eBay posts sometimes!

So it's essentially a variation listing then, except multiples of the same vs. multiple varieties?
(Although why not just use the quantity feature if selling the exact same things? (Not actually asking this second question, just musing out loud))

No, not the same as a variation listing.
Let's say you're selling, I don't know, a USB cord. Comes 1 per package. Now let's say you don't want to sell singles, you want to sell 2 at a time.
That's a lot of 2.
Now say you have 30 of them. That's a total of 15 lots of 2.
So for quantity you'd put in 15, and you'd check off the lot option for 2 in each lot.
Each purchase for a quantity of 1 means you ship 2 to the buyer.
