Is anyone aware that sellers are selling New items above retail? For example, it is common for sellers of books to purchase books at retail, only to sell them at a higher cost than retail. Any ideas????

In fact, the word scalping in this context means to buy something and resell it for a quick profit. Vintage does not apply. If you're buying out a product just to resell it then scalping is the correct term. It's also called wash trading which is also illegal and both are a form of market manipulation.

Are you buying out the supplier to choke the market? That's the difference between scalping and buying a wholesale.

But that's the very definition of scalping. That's what the original laws were applied to for example, like the "raspberry pi" issues people swiped up the single board computers just to drive up the price is what's called scalping. And it's what the diamond industry has been doing choking up the market just to inflat the cost.

It really depends on what your state you're in 16 states makes scalping illegal because a lot of times it's bad for business providing these products or services more so in the ticket industry because all those sold tickets that doesn't have a butt attached to it to sit in is a person who's not buying merchandise and memorabilia from inside stadiums.
