Hello all. I was just informed that one of my record album listings was removed due to "restricted / counterfeit " item guidelines. It was a TMOQ album. It had 3 bids, and had 1 day to go. I called and spoke with a rep, and he confirmed that. As we were speaking, I searched "TMOQ" record albums, and found 4 pages of them, all current. As to why mine was cancelled, his answer was "don't know" Any guesses or advice on this?

I have no clue who TMOQ is but whatever you do , do NOT relist that album. If ebay catches you , they will suspend your account for at least 3 days. Ebay is like speeding. Sometimes, you get caught and while the officer is writing the ticket, 20 cars pass by speeding. Those cars were not caught. You were. Your account is on ebay's radar. Do NOT list those albums here.

Trade Mark Of Quality (abbreviated TMOQ or TMQ) was a bootleg record label based in Los Angeles, California, and was established in 197

Did you use the word bootleg in the listing?

Oh I won't list anything like that again. My question was " was this generated by some computer algorhythm, or a human viewing? Was it reported by a ebay user ? Again, how did it happen? Because apparently it is not happening to all other similar items. Just curious

It's very likely an AI thing. Bootleg is a synonym for counterfeit.

No, I listed it like all the others I saw "TMOQ". I did not use the word bootleg. I viewed pages of these, and used the same format wording as others. I just looked up "TMOQ lp record albums" now, as we are speaking, and found 2 albums exactly like the one I had listed, current , and with the word bootleg. Again, how is the search for these "restricted" items done...key words/phrases?...letter groupings?...photos??, or by human searching??

Hard to say - I can present this as a personal example:
I had Designer Face Masks listed and had the listing come down due to counterfeit - I know they weren't - I had the lowest price and had already sold several - I was sure it had been reported by a competitor. After a week or so, I decided to put it to the test - There were 6 or 7 other exact same listings and I reported them all as counterfeit(I mean if mine were suspected counterfeit then these had to be also right) - within 2 days they were all taken down except for 1 listing and that seller had a very large amount of sales....hmmmmm - Had a similar situation with a pair of Nike's that were absolutely authentic, though I didn't report other listings in that situation - mine just came down for counterfeit for no reason whatsoever, again with my listing being the lowest price.
It would be utterly ridiculous to think ebay would take listings down based on competitor reports, but my test was very convincing to me and just led me all the quicker to my current relationship with the company - Separated with a Divorce looming...

eBay is not a transparent platform. They do not reveal their methods, for security reasons they say.

My me?
I always think the same thing when ever I get pulled over for speeding.
