Worded in many different ways, this is the majority of my increased buyer messages. Some of them are sent by potential buyers (not purchased anything) and MANY of them are by buyers who purchased despite their displayed ETA is after Christmas and they didn't choose/pay any of the expedited shipping I offer.
Obviously the messages from potential buyers I cannot comment on. I just tell them to check the shipping section (despite the shipping section being all broken) and see the ETAs. But for the post sale ones... do you ship these with the shipping they opted for, upgrade for free, cancel, or other? Keep in mind over the weekend sales I have over a dozen of these and expect to get more each day from now until 12/25.

How much are time and paypal fees worth? You could bill extra for priotiy or express pp and say you will ship on X date at the purchased shipping level if not heard from......or you could cancel and tell them to rebuy with quicker shipping........
I've never had that many, but I have billed the extra PP......for a couple.

I thought there were not any options for buyers- listings only show 1 type shipping?
Anyway, I'm no help when I tell them " sorry, I have no control over the shipping time. USPS only does 'estimates' and Priority is 1-3 days (they say 2, but I've seen Cali to FL in 1 day and Cali to Texas 4 days) and 1st Class states 2-7 working days (therefore Sat/Sun/Holidays not included).

When you have billed the buyers for the couple... does the buyer pay the same day you bill them? Many times I have a buyer either pay after 1 day or come back with messaging trying to negotiate the upgrade cost. By then in hindsight the original shipping method would have arrived compared to the lagged upgraded shipping sent out on a later date.

Have to say it IS tempting to respond "Then you should have bought it earlier"

As I remember most paid pretty quickly.......within the one day handling time......but I contacted them immediately and put it something like .....if I don't get payment from you by Mon. at 2 p.m., I will have to mail as per your selection in the original purchase. Please understand that I can only give the Post Office the package with the postage they state will arrive by Christmas....... Delivery is up to them......with all the hazards that they may encounter.......snowstorms, accidents, etc. No delivery can be completely guaranteed......

My answer to ebay buyers:
As stated in the listing I have one day handling and will ship this item by XX/XX/XX. I will ship it by the method stated in the listing and selected by the buyer. The estimated time of arrival should also be stated but please remember that it is an estimated only and is provided by the USPS. The delivery by the post office is not guaranteed and I cannot provide any promised it will arrive in time. Thank you.

Dear buyer,
I am absolutely confident that your item will arrive nearly a year prior to Dec 25th, 2020.
Sincerely,
Your seller

Then there is the ship by "glitch" shown on my accounts with 3 day handling.
Whenever I have replied to those asking about upgraded shipping, and present the potential arrival time savings vs the added fees they have all declined the upgrade.

No, upgraded methods selected by the seller will also be shown if their estimated delivery date is earlier than the default (cheaper) method. If it isn't, then the upgrade option will not be shown to that buyer.
It can be tricky to check that using your own account to view your own listings, since your default method is probably good enough for one-day delivery within your own ZIP code, and thus you won't see your upgrade methods. Others living further away will probably see them.

Just as a data point, I've been shipping First Class Package and Priority packages almost every day this month, and I'm not seeing any noticeable delays (yet) in their dates of delivery. For example, a Priority Regional Rate A box that I shipped last Saturday from Chicago to North Carolina is out for delivery today.

Conversely, at least 25% of the items that I have shipped have been showing an estimated delivery date(shown in USPS tracking) that has passed, with the item still in transit, or at a facility other than the destination PO.

I've had tons of FC arrive within the 5th business day (I know because I hear alot of complaints on those despite it falling within their Standard Shipping at 1-5 business days). I don't really monitor my PM packages but I highly doubt they take 5 business days.
Maybe it has to do with the area of origin? Where are you shipping from? I'm in SoCal and all my packages basically get routed to the City of Industry main satellite. If you are in the middle of the country, that might explain your similar arrival times for FC and PM.
