question about FB revision

This weekend I got a couple of messages from a buyer.  He had left me FB that said something like great transaction, fast shipping, awesome communication.  Great, right?  Nope, he left me a big red donut with those words!  He messaged me to say he hit negative in error, it was on the 'wrong' side (whatever that means??).  He asked me to delete it.  Wish I could.

The next message said he said that eBay told him I could send him a FB revision form.   He said he would be happy to change, as it was his error.  I sent it and he fixed it.

My question is now it says I have 4 FB revisions available to me instead of 5.  Is this in a calendar year or a year starting from now?  Since it was an honest mistake, why did it count against my total?  The FB also shows as revised.  It will go to page 2 soon, so I'm not worried about it, but I am curious.  What would you think if you saw a FB was revised?

question about FB revision

You can only request a revision for feedback that is less than 30 days old. You can make 5 feedback revision requests per calendar year. For every 1,000 feedback ratings you receive during the year, you can make 5 additional feedback revision requests. However, these additional feedback revision requests don’t carry over into the following year. (source)

"You can make 5 feedback revision requests per calendar year."

A revision request is a revision request.  There's usually no way to tell whether the original rating was an "honest mistake" so they all count.  But I suspect that very few members will notice it in your feedback profile.

The feedback as originally entered was a violation of eBay policy so you could have asked eBay to remove it, rather than asking the buyer to revise it. Then it would have disappeared from your feedback history.

question about FB revision

In the short run, a polite factual and amused Response might be your best strategy.

Responses draw the eye, so your good humour in an embarrassing situation should not hurt you.

But when you asked for a Revision, the FB was Revised, and it is very unlikely any human being was involved.

You could ask for five Revisions. Now you can only ask for four.

Arithmetic.
