I sold something and spent a ton shipping it.
It is being returned saying "unable to deliver problem with address"
I googled the address and it looks to be an apartment building that was converted to condos and each was given a regular street address. In zillow they are listed by this address. (as a side note I have now seen pictures of their home)
It is the address in paypal and ebay. They checked out as a guest through paypal.

When you get it back - refund the item cost and keep the shipping. If you feel the need, let the buyer know it's coming back and ask what they would like you to do about it.
Most of the time, if it's coming back the buyer doesn't want it, especially if they have bought other items recently. Only once have I ever had a buyer want me to reship, and they happily repaid for the second ship cost. Figuring out what the problem is and attempting to fix it will be a waste of time.
I go into my branch and talk to my postmaster. He can usually fix tracking problems for me in just a few minutes.

okay, now it's getting complicated.
Even though the post office shows unable to deliver, now I'm being told that it is postage due.
I thought that went away? The post office charges any difference directly when the postage is bought online. So why is it showing as postage due?
And he wants me to refund all the shipping for him to go pick it up. This is an 18 pound oversize box cross country.

Personally, I would call their post office and verify if it is postage due and the amount. If it is, then I would figure out what I did wrong and refund my buyer.
The system is supposed to catch postage mistakes, but maybe the receiving post office did instead. If the buyer is being dishonest, then your call should find that out.

I know the postage was wrong.
I have in the past taken a box with the wrong postage to the counter only to be told they can't fix it and the system would catch it.
It was explained that the system would read the label and charge me the difference not seeing that there was a second postage paid label. The system is not set up to have 2 labels.
So rather that void a label and wait for a refund I sent it. I was assured it would be fine.
Now my concern is that the system caught the difference and in the next few days I get a charge for it. But someone at the post office noticed the difference. It was a good 10 pounds short. (it was a combined sale so when printing out the label it printed with the weight for just the one listing instead of the 2.
Why is there not a way for someone to pay postage due online?

"...it printed with the weight for just the one listing instead of the 2."
You do realize you can enter the correct information before printing the label. At least you know what the problem is and can accommodate your buyer properly.

I fully own my mistake it was a combined auction and I printed the label from one auction never thinking about the combined weight. I caught it later after I wasn't around a printer.
I just got an email back basically telling me that what happened couldn't have happened because they don't do it that way anymore.
