problem--no messages with best offer

Okay, this has now happened to me twice recently, so I think there is a problem--yet another eBay glitch.  I am a seller and I have had 2 best offers lately that I countered.  Both buyers declined my counter-offer.  I usually contact the buyer later to see if we can work out a deal because sometimes we can.  Both buyers told me that they wrote a message with information pertaining to the possible sale.  All I see on my end is a bell notification that the counter offer was declined.  I don't even get an eBay message or anything else with their typed response.  Anyone else noticed this same thing?

do mean they say something in the decline?..........I don't think I've ever looked beyond the notification of the decline.....

Of do you mean they are answering your later email to them, but you aren't getting that?

They are saying something in their decline--like when you add a note to the seller when you purchase something.  When I click on the decline message on my bell, it says nothing.  Subsequent messages are through eBay and work perfectly fine.
