last night i had a auction that went for 430 lots of people bidding and item was probably worth about 500.
i got a message this morning from the winning bidder that he did not bid that high and only bid to 300 and not sure why he won. he also said could you please work with me and sell it to me for 300.
i told him that why would i do that when there are many other bidders that wanted the item that bid well over 300 dollars. i said i will cancel the order and did.
i sent 2nd chance offer for 2nd highest bidder for 425, couple other bidders over 400 that i could offer too as well, but i was selling it in auction just to recoup some buying money cause i spent a lot on inventory this month and wanted some quicker cash.
buyer does buy a lot off me but he only bids auctions and only gets them when they end lower than normal.
not sure if i should report that cause he has never left me feedback for recent past sales and looked and he won about 25 auctions the past 45 days.
you made a mistake that's fine i can cancel but to try to swindle someone down after that auction. that's absurd.
what would you do ,just leave it alone he does buy a lot but always looking for a deal. i think i am just going to leave it at that but that offer kinda ticked me off. curious what you all would do.

my reply wasn't just "i told him that why would i do that when there are many other bidders that wanted the item that bid well over 300 dollars. i said i will cancel the order and did"
i was just summing up 10 messages into one sentence not to confuse the skim readers.
i said i appreciate all the business that you have done with me........and then in another message after he asked again to do it for 300 i state why i cant. i've been dealing with this guy for a while so i can talk with him more precise than a 1 time buyer. he needed to know that he was not the only bidder, there were over 30 different bidders on this item. he said he did not have the money and i said i can cancel it if you want to and
he said yes and he was very sorry. so i cancelled it. i think i did him a favor as another replier said buyer cancellations are a request, Not an entitlement.
it was clear from the first message that he was not paying that price anyway.

2nd highest bidder already bought it and paid for it, i want to thanks to all that replied. feels good to talk about it with other ebayers rather than friends and family. the community is great.

Glad it all worked out. Hopefully your repeat Buyer does not create this type of issue for you again. Happy future sales!

Is the dog (you) wagging the tail here or do you let buyers run your store? I've seen plenty in my forty years of negotiating. Someone buys seven inexpensive widgets and then comes in one day spouting off about how he is a big time repeat customer and wants a 25% discount on a two thousand dollar item.
I agree with another poster that I would have declined his offer and let it run the four day course. Once the four days passed I would either give second chance offers or relist starting at the winning price.
I would also block the customer for the duration of the relisting and then reinstate him once the sale is final.

If you want to be rid of him fast- "I regret you will be unable to pay for the auction you won. I can cancel this immediately if that is your preference." Then cancel at Buyer Request.
You are free of the transaction and can make a Second Chance Offer immediately. He can however leave Feedback.
Or let it ride. If he doesn't pay up within four days, eBay will close the transaction* as an Unpaid Item and he will get a Strike on his buying account. He will not be able to leave feedback. The underbidder may have moved on.
Note that although over 85% of listings are Fixed Price, most UIDs are from Auction listings.
Since he is a repeat buyer, it's up to you whether or not his "only bids auctions and only gets them when they end lower than normal. " cherrypicking is more offensive than profitable. If he is mostly an annoyance, Block him. If he is a useful underbidder for customers with deeper pockets, keep him.
*this is very new and there are not many reports on how successful it is. You can open a UID yourself after 48 hours if you are in the USA.

> buyer from China
oh boy
I would have let the UPI process play out on this one so there's no chance of feedback and blocked the buyer.
Repeat customer or not you jerk me around once my patience runs out.

calling me a dog very unprofessional. you don't make any sense except maybe to yourself. how am i letting customers run my store, how am i dog wagging my tail. you need to read fully. i did not accept offer. nor would i ever do that.
the buyer never said he wanted a discount because he was a repeat buyer. and why would i try to **bleep** him off then reinstate him your logic is about the level of a 4 year old.

He needed to know that there were a lot of bidders? Couldn't he tell that from viewing the listing?
It seems like he was relying on your past history together to attempt to drag down the price for him.

75% of me thinks its a honest mistake but you never know. only the buyer can answer your second question. as far as history together he bids on auctions and has never sent me a offer on a single item so he has never low balled me before.
another replier stated he's cherry picking my stuff and as far as that goes, he only bids on auctions and if he wins a auction at a low price well that's on me i started it low, and i don't lose out at all either its items that i have got dirt cheap and start my bid with profit in mind at the minimum bid. if he doesn't bid someone else will so i could care less who gets it at what price. but it does help when he bundles stuff up and i dont have to ship 10 different packages. how ebay takes there fees.
i will keep this simple say someone buys something for 10 bucks and cost 10 to ship ebay takes there fees from the 20 dollars.
say i sold 10 items at 10 dollars and same shipping 10 dollars. but to all different buyers. i would be paying ebays fees on the items plus 100 for the shipping. say he won all ten and i combine shipping and cost now 40 dollars that's 60 dollars less that ebay is getting fees on.
all in all its saves me.

lets end this thread with a thanks to all replier's but its starting to get out of hand with people nit picking stuff unrelated. i try to answer your questions and keep is casual but i keep getting all these messages why this that and the other thing. i posted what happened and what would you do. now i am getting reply like do you let the buyers run your store, questions i cant answer because i am not the buyer, i also and getting posters low balling me on sales that i have in my store. this is ridiculous.
