How is one suppose to make any $$ list an item for 9.99, sells for 9.99 and ebay keeps 4.50.

I think eBay does not that much. $0.30 as the final value fee and about 12% from the price you added to the item. That's all according to my point of view. Correct me if I am wrong. Thank You!

Rule #1, do not sell something that costs more to ship in postage than the price of the item, you will watch your revenue become depleted.  For example, you're selling something for $9.99, but postage is $11.67----who are you working for at that point.  Obviously, The US Postal Service.  Rethink your strategy.

Now, if you are getting rid of inventory for more space due to excess, that is different.

Probably doesn't make sense to list things for less than $25.00 unless you're selling in volume.

Well for those of us with only modest savings after paying for medical insurance out of pocket for decades, a $5 net profit buys a healthy salad at Trader Joe's for lunch.

This is a great point.

We have items our cost basis is pennies or free.  They make great filler sales or drive FB, sales numbers, etc.

Thank you for the perspective.  You are correct - every little bit helps!

(You as a seasoned seller understand your costs/fees.  Many Sellers, even seasoned, are trading dollars and have no idea.  It amazes me that Sellers only realize after the sale there was no potential for profit)
