I have a toy from the 70's in its original packaging. The box is somewhat damaged. I'm just wondering if it is worth more even with the damage to the box. The box is legible it is just dented and not in original shape.

Probably. It depends a lot on what the item is. The best resource would be to check on prices for Sold items. There is also a special discussion board for "Toys & Hobbies". If you post on that board, give specifics about what the item is.

Items in their original box, even if box is damaged, are worth more.

This is a good point, perhaps in some instances, it will depend on what the item is.
My apologies

Forgive me but upon further reflection, I stand by my original thought, which was that items are worth more if in original packaging.
Even if the packaging is slightly damaged. Just be sure to photograph and describe any damage.
