package size

I sold an item, and it's original box is one size, ebay's shipping label had a slightly bigger size, 24 x 18 x 24 in. I "built a box to go around it to try and help protect it, but 24 x 18 x 24 box are the same price as shipping, $80 for 5 boxes, I'll only ever need 1. but the package turned out at 27 x 12 x 24. will this be an issue? should I ship it in its original box, with extra tape?

Has anyone shipped a package that was under on one dimension but over on another without issues?

Thanks.

I just canceled it hoping for the best...

We sent the carrier your request. If the carrier hasn't scanned your label, you'll receive a refund in a few days.

So I have to wait to ship now. ...

Ship now; don't wait for that refund.

Re: package size

I ordered a new label with the measurements I have.
It will ship tomorrow, I have to wait for my wife to print out the new label.

No, the retail box is not made for shipping.

It probably wouldn't make it in one piece.

Have a great day.

Re: package size

I canceled the first shipping label as suggested, ordered the new one as suggested.

NOW Thanks to Ebay's version of customer support, I HAVE ZERO funds! $150 computer case sold for $150 basically stolen!

You WILL get the refund for the voided label. As was explained earlier in the thread, it'll take 2-3 weeks for the credit to show up in your account but you WILL get it. So you won't be out the money.

Re: package size

Either one of those sizes exceed the package volume for  the maximum volume allowed for  standard USPS Priority Mail pricing.  That  limit is  1 cubic foot  or 1728 cu. in. or for example a package that is 12" x12" x12".  Above that limit one will be charged a  Priority Dimensional rates - which means big  prices depending on the  ship to zone.  Read all  about it in this link from a reliable company called Stamps -

USPS has max length and weight limits too.  Go to USPS.com and  search their site for  more  details.  Seem to recall the max weight  limit  is 70 lbs.   https://www.usps.com/ship/mail-shipping-services.htm
