odd timing for promotion

I got one of the 500 listings for 12/17-12/21.  I don't see this as being terribly useful at least in the sense that I don't want to list Tues, Weds, Friday, and Saturday of the period. I guess I can list a few on Thursday/Boxing Day. I suppose they figure nobody is going to want to spend Christmas week sitting around on the computer listing.

I imagine some sellers who received the promotion do want to list Tues, Weds, Friday and Saturday of the period. I don't think eBay tailor-makes promotions based on the days each specific seller may or may not want to work.

That's true, I just meant that it does not seem ideal to have auctions (which I list) end Christmas Eve or Christmas, and Friday and Saturday are usually slow sales days at least for me.

But yeah, guess I was griping about a benefit that many others probably didn't get.

Probably 60% of the USA is off work Thurs & Fri after Xmas. I get more 'purchases' on those days, including Xmas, than I do most of December. I sell car show items, so Dad has spent all of Dec buying everyone else gifts, then spends Xmas & the rest of the long weekend buying for himself.

Many people are 'alone' and buy themselves things on Xmas as well.

Not everyone celebrates the same holidays and some may have more spare time to list during this timeframe.

You can list auction or fixed price and if you list auction you can list 5 days as well as 7 days.

I find that Christmas Day and Boxing Day are good days to sell.  People are online engaging in shopping therapy.  Even those who have company for Christmas often find time to shop - remember it's a 24/7 operation.  Likewise New Years Day is a good selling day, at least for me.

Personally, I was pleased to see the offer.

I was hopeful, as I got it on 2 of my IDs that I would also get it on my starter store (which actually could USE them) but nope.

Guess the starter (this one) will be going back to a non store after the holidays then.

It's all about manipulating those Q4 numbers.

So, if you use the offer today or tomorrow, use 10-day auctions.  If you list 7-day auctions on Thursday or Friday, you'll probably catch a lot of the "finally shopping for myself" audience, depending on what you're selling.

In which case it would be nice if we got a site wide Free Listings promo for US sellers only. (like we used to get)

I don't know why I didn't think of that! (10 day) I may rotate a bunch of stuff out of the store, "last chance" kind of sale, for 10 days.

Thanks all for the perspectives.

I doubt eBay plans its promotions based on what a specific seller prefers. For instance, I take advantage of almost every promotion I get - and I suspect I am not alone.

Are 10 day auctions an option as well? That would put an Auction listed today closing on the 27th with viewers who are hiding from their families crouched over the computer on Boxing Day and Friday.

And of course, Fixed Price listings will last until January 26.

I think they meant to say, "I guess I can list a few to end on Thursday/Boxing Day."

Boxing Day isn't a thing in the US.  Most people wouldn't know what you're talking about.
