non payers

Every time I list a batch of items i get a non payer. And they never contact me, answer my questions if they need more time. No contact.  They win the auction, taking it away from the second highest bidder. And now, i have 2 non payers from my last batch on April 18th. It's may 5th. All i can do is cancel the orders, but why can't i punish these non payers with a negative feedback? Warn others that if they take their bid, they won't get paid?

You could just do Buy It Now listings with immediate payment required so the issue won't come up again.

Another good thing about Buy It Now is people can buy anytime and not have to wait on auctions to end.

Just do what you can do.  Most sellers have a block on buyers that have had two or more non payment reports.

Leaving a neg for an non payer wouldn't do a darn thing.

It is frustrating if you run your items at auction. That is your choice. Non payers go with the business.

Look at it this way. If your item had more than one bidder, it was a desirable item. Back years ago it would have been at least 14 days before you could relist that item. Better for the seller now? Yes.

@nixcollects

There are a number of ways a seller can reduce or avoid nonpaying customers.

  • List all items as fixed-price, immediate payment required. Do not list with the auction format.
  • Remove the "best offer" option from your listings or decline each offer manually--no matter how tempting it appears.
  • Make sure to use the new cancellation process for members who don't pay within four full days (cancel on day five). A strike for nonpayment will be recorded on their account. The cancellation process can be done manually or you can set it to cancel for you automatically.
  • Set your Buyer Requirements to block any member with two or more strikes in the last twelve months--the most restrictive setting.
  • Add the member id to your Blocked Buyer List.

Utilizing these tools will help eliminate unpaid transactions.

Good luck!

Hi, Thank you for the response. I don't like buy it now's, and i'll explain why.  I once saw an unopened box of Garbage Pail Kids stickers series 2 with a buy it now and it was listed for $1000.00 and sold instantly. So I put my box up as an auction, started it at $999.00 and ran the auction for 10 days. On the last day, the last 2 minutes, my box sold for $1725.00  By not using a buy it now, I was able to make $725.00 more. I start most auctions for $1.00 and leave it to faith, on what people want to pay with their highest bids. Buy it now just restrains you. Did you ever see what a strike on their account does? Nothing!!! We sellers  need the negative feedback back!
