a buyer has purchased one for my items but has not let me know what colours they require but have not replied to
any of my messages and now the dispatch time has elapsed what do i do

First, you'll need to wait until you hear from them.
You might want to give them a call. Sometimes, their phone number is listed in the sales record. If it is not there, you can call eBay customer service and they should be able to provide it to you.

In the future, I would suggest not allowing buyers to purchase items that do not specify the color.

Exactly what I had to do. Being that I am new, it took me a while but now I dont have to worry about this issue anymore

I think your handmade items would benefit from a variation listing. Below is a link with instructions on how to set it up.
Basically, a variation listing would allow your buyer to select from the colors you have available. So it is still one listing but gives all the different color choices. Then you’ll know immediately what color the customer wants and you won’t find yourself in this predicament.
As for what to do now, if you don’t already have it from the transaction, you can get the buyer’s contact information from eBay. How have you tried to reach him so far? If they are not responding to eBay Messages, try their email, text or call. Good luck to you.
