I'm sorry but I got my money much faster the old way through PayPal. I sold an item for $20 last night and it has not shown up in PayPal or my bank account. Before, it would be in PayPal immediately. This is not a better way.

Yes you did.
I sold an item for $20 last night and it has not shown up in PayPal or my bank account.
If you are in managed payments, it will never show up in PayPal. It will not appear in your bank account until after all these have happened:
(a) the payment to Adyen clears; and
(b) any eBay holds are removed; and
(c) it is included in a payout; and
(d) the payment to your bank clears.
Before, it would be in PayPal immediately.
Yes it did.
This is not a better way.
It is better. For eBay. Once everyone is on managed payments, the $2.9 billion plus 30 cents per transaction in processing fees will go to eBay and not to PayPal.

It will take some time to get used to for some sellers.
To quote the Mandalorian "This is the way" 🙂
Paypal spoiled us because they used to front the money before it cleared the buyer's funding source, Adyen the managed payments funds processor does not.
If eBay says that it's time to ship then you need to ship. If you do not feel comfortable with this then you MUST extend your handling time.
You can use pending funds to pay for your shipping labels. The option is at the bottom of the label form.
Check here to see if the buyer's payment says processing>

It takes about 2 business days for the buyers payment to clear their funding source. Once the funds are available they are paid out to the ACH system. From there the money is transferred to the bank account you provided when you registered for managed payments. It can take your bank 1 to 4 days to deposit the money into your checking account. Larger banks are faster.
I have weekly payouts on Tuesdays and my available funds are paid out and in my bank by no later than 12pm on Wednesday

I don't think many sellers think it is better. It is only better to eBay because they get more fees. But it is the only way if you want to continue to sell here. That is a decision only you can make. Adapt, or move on.

you're right, for sellers... apparently it is better for ebay, or they wouldn't have done it...

No issues yet. Except my payouts are too small. 🙂 I signed up (begrudgingly), beginning of January. This is the start of my busy season, or it is supposed to be. It started out gangbusters. Last week of 2020 and 1st week of January, I was slammed. Got me all excited. Then it all but dried up. 1st, I thought it was because of the MP switch. Then I realized it's probably the pandemic and eco/political climate. Guess my busy season was cut short by about 4 months.........................ugh. No worries though. I have a plan. 🙂

Thank you. The information you gave is very helpful and now I see that it will take even longer than they made it seem. I may have to sell elsewhere, unless it's going to be like this on every site.

@rebeing72. All major selling venues are now moving to this type of payout method

For what it's worth... my buyer's payments are my bank deposits in 4 business days. Once you adapt, it's doable.
Good luck to you!

In the future don't ship the item until you get paid. In your item description state that item will ship when payment clears. Contact the buyer and tell them that Ebay put a hold on their payment and recommend they contact Ebay customer service to resolve.

Not a good plan, and this is a 2-1/2 year old thread.
That would require setting an unrealistic "handling time" that would deter sales.
Buyers are not going to wait 30 days for shipping.

You are posting bad advice.
New and occasional sellers who haven't sold items in 90 days are considered "new" and are subject to 30 day holds. But those sellers MUST ship within their handling times, in your case 3 days. If you hold your items 30 days, you'll find yourself with buyer complaints, poor feedback and a poofed ebay account!
