I heard that new listings tend to be listed ahead of older listings.  If so,  to get the most pop on an initial listing, which day should i list it on.????

Not sure where you heard that. But it all depends on the category of what you’re selling. 
If you plan on listing clothing and accessories or jewelry those categories are highly saturated with thousands of other listings.

There's not a 'best day' that I know of. Just let 'em rip. Good luck.

Many years ago, prior to fixed price listings, there were theories on the best days and times to start auction listings. 

Now, with most listings FP, it doesn't matter what day or time they start.

New listings are put up 24 hours a day.

Depending on how many are listed after yours, that new pop probably won't last long.

There is no better time or day to list, just list when you want/can.

In my opinion there is really no important or special time to list daily.  People are looking 24/7, so just list when you feel like listing & keep listing.

Yes, it is generally thought that Newly Listed items get a tiny boost in Search.

And there is a Search option for Newly Listed.

Avoid Auctions, which make up less than 15% of listings, because buyers don't like them.

Your Fixed Price listings will be up for 30 days and then relist automatically if not sold.

You can add Immediate Payment Required to a Fixed Price listing.

Watch what you do sell and list more of that.

Find a niche.

For example, the site is about to flood with Christmas stuff, but there is very little Diwahli merch offered that ships from North America. Yet there are some 5.8 million ethnic Indians in North America and the holy day is November 12, 2023.
