my full description not showing for customers

Hi my full description which shows length and waist and many things we spent countless hours filling in is not showing on any of my 800 listings.  If someone can would you check on this for me.  Also I found this to be true when I checked on listing that are similar to mine.   Anyone else?  When I pressed sell similar to see if they were there they were but neither I or my customer can see them at this point.  Thanks

On the Ebay phone app, the length of the description is limited to 800 characters.

If your description is longer, the description is automatically abridged/edited  to fit that length.

The auto edit is pretty random, so sometimes the description doesn't even completely make sense.

I use a listing service (Auctiva) that has a separate box for the "Mobile Item Description."

I type up my description, then copy into that box.  It tells me how many characters I have used.

I often have to edit my description to fit, so I try make sure that all of the vital info in the description is in the first 800 characters of the (possibly) longer description that will be shown on desktops.

On the app, there is a place to click to see the complete description, but a lot of people probably don't bother to do that.

So, it's probably best to limit descriptions to 800 characters.

That is probably why you aren't seeing your complete description.

i don't even write a description.  So very little characters used.  None of my inseams or fiber content are seen so now I will have to put them in the description.  Probably 75% of buyers buy on their phone I am guessing , so geez did I just not notice this before or what.  I ended my app and started a new app and used my husbands phone and still specifics not being seen.  You can see the first 4 or so item specifics and nothing else except whatever you write in the description.

"Probably 75% of buyers buy on their phone"

There are statistics on the view per device somewhere and my buyers using a phone were less than 10%.

I doubt that anyone sells 75% directly through buyers using phones.

The IS's come up fine if you hit the side arrow under 'about this item'.

Unfortunately, eBay puts so much distracting clutter on the listings that it's hard to find much of anything, but its there.  I'd flesh out the description a little more because that's the first actual prompt a mobile user will see is "see full description" - I'm not sure most would even bother looking for item specifics.

I would not doubt that number at all.

You might want to have a look at these stats, especially the ones related to mobile use.

https://www.oberlo.com/blog/ebay-statistics

More than 50% of the visitors to my own website (not ecommerce) do so with a mobile device and amongst my friends/family less than half still own a desktop computer.

35% seems about right - on other, younger sites where I sell it's a lot higher - but...kinda funny, the youthful sellers on there frequently move off the phone and onto a device that's actually more set up for business like a laptop or desktop, even if they shop on their mobiles.

I only checked one because as always what a person says they cannot see is actually there. I see your item specifics and here is the description of the first item I looked at:

mens new chaps blanket lined heavy tan shirt Shacket size XL.

Cotton blend
