there used to be a way, if you did $3000/mo worth of activity, to lower the paypal fee from 2.9% to 2.5%......... i'm poking around but i'm not seeing anything like that. is it still possible, or is that gone now?

They got rid of the tiers. I think in 2016 or 2017.

PayPal's last money grab was to charge everyone 2.9% + 30¢, regardless of volume.
