local pickup item not picked up

I sold a parts washer on a local pickup.

The buyer is a nice guy and all that, but for whatever reason, nobody has picked it up yet.

When I sold it, I didn't specify a time period for pickup, but the buyer contacted me and said his freight company would pick it up last Monday, and now it's a week and half later. I called the freight company, and they told me the order was cancelled because they didn't have the correct information on the bill of lading, particularly my name and phone number which I see on the BOL. It's been 40 days since the date of sale.

Long story short, if I cancel this sale and refund for non pickup, can the buyer leave bad feedback? Am I protected from that since they failed to pick it up or am on the hook to babysit it indefinitely?

I think after that long, you can't cancel, but you can just issue a refund.  They can leave feedback, so I'd definitely want to make sure it was clear with them that you weren't penalizing them exactly, but that it didn't work out and you needed to refund.

Here's the feedback timeframe:

You can leave feedback for up to 60 days from the date you received your item or from the expected delivery date, whichever comes first. If no expected delivery date is provided, you have up to 90 days from when you completed your purchase to leave feedback for the seller.
