listing was removed after it already sold then buyer opened a request?

I sold an item that was removed a few days later due to MC999.  Buyer already paid and item was delivered on April 4 but today this buyer opened a request saying that he never received his item and wants a refund; when tracking says it was delivered. At this point i have no doubt that this buyer wants to take advantage of now that he knows that my item is no longer found. will ebay favor the buyer?

If the buyer opens an item not received request then you have to input the tracking number into the details.  You can then either call eBay and have them review the details in the request or you can let it time out.

  • If the tracking shows delivered you will win the case and not have to refund the buyer.
  • If it does not show delivered you will more than likely lose the case and refund the buyer.

Update the claim with the tracking number if you need to.  Then call Ebay and get it closed in your favor.  Don't wait for them to figure it out.  Call and get them to look at the tracking which shows delivered and then have them close the claim.  It does not have to be more complicated than that.

As the others said, all you have to do is provide the tracking number showing delivered - you will be covered against eBay, PayPal, or credit card chargeback Item Not Received claims.

The tracking number should be available on the PayPal transaction for the sale or the eBay or PayPal email confirmations for the shipping label purchase if you purchased eBay or PayPal online postage, or if you purchased retail postage at the PO and uploaded the tracking to the eBay sale or the PayPal payment transaction. Or on the PO receipt for retail postage purchased at PO counter.

If it is not any of those places, or your didn't keep your records (PDF copy of shipping label/receipt, email confirmations, any PO receipt) you are out of luck, will lose, and will be refunding the buyer.
