laboring on Labor Day

Anyone else working today? I tried to take my son to the doctor (not a medical emergency) and they were closed. The bookstore I frequent was open and we're going out to lunch, I am sure the restautaunt is open.

Anyway, I work pretty much all the time except for 8-11 in the evening ( I do work 11-12 at night if necessary to prepare for shipping the next day). I have a lot of mail to do and my Tuesday self would hate me if I didn't get it done today.

The only laboring I'm doing today is getting some local sales pickups ready ... people have time to come get things today 🙂

Hubby has baby back ribs ready to go on the smoker ... some friends are coming by later ... I guess I'll have to do some housework LOL

The weather has been uncooperative for fishing and boating all weekend ... otherwise I'd be out on the Gulf right now with a pole in my hand 🙂

so I got a few new listings done this morning.

I hope you have a nice lunch.:smileyhappy:

I am working today.  Took pictures and put up listings earlier this morning.  Now just off the phone with eBay...yet another glitch, with on time carrier scans not reporting correctly.  On a positve note, I used have eBay call you back instead of waiting on hold, and sprayed weeds while I was waiting for the call back.

Heading out to my workshop to make more ornaments.  Sales are good for me Smiley Happy

This is my full time job and I didn't think to work in holidays.  Although I was gone all yesterday afternoon, but I worked all morning to make up for it.

The hours are simple-If I want to sell then I have to put in a lot of time.

Even more now since we are moving in a month and I've got to sell off some inventory.

Weedeated the yard and garden already, have to go get some gas to mow later. Gotta get it done before we get rain from the tropical storm Wednesday...but I would be doing all that anyway, holiday or not.

Hubby's firing up the grill to cook hot dogs and chicken. We'll have corn on the cob and baked beans to go along with them. sunglasses

Selling wise I have three packages so far to get ready to go out tomorrow, two Ebay and one ::gasp:: Etsy. My sixth Etsy sale of the YEAR. At this rate I might break even before I'm 100 laughing

When I started there I did great-124 sales the first year. And then it just died. I thought about staying or closing until one day I decided to see what they advertise. It wasn't anything vintage and that's what I sell. I'm now on another antique site but it's slow too.

It's hard to spend time selling on a site where nothing sells knowing I'd be making sales if I spent that time here. One more site to try....my daily mantra.

Here in BC employers have to pay more to employees for working on holidays.

DD is working today, physiotherapist assistant at an assisted living facility, and getting double time. Which is pretty good since they get union benefits. I think that gig pays $25 an hour regularly.

She prefers doing sexual health presentations in the schools where she charges $150 an hour, but she only does about four of those a month, each taking about four hours.

Her third gig is educational assistant, working with special needs children, also unionized and paying $25 an hour.

BTW- if you know any teachers who are interested in immigrating, British Columbia is desperate for teachers since the size of classes was reduced from 30 to 25. Pay starts around $50K annually for new graduates and benefits are excellent.

I'm pulling stuff from the bins and looking up prices.  Took a few photos; need to take many more but these are uber easy - front and back.  Done.

And now it's time to hit the links.  Very hot so I have convinced the man that we're not going to walk; I did that yesterday (he didn't) with the twin terrors on the course and wowzer did we sweat a lot.  Of course, it does take 15x longer to play a hole with them also playing.

But I'll take hot any day;  it's supposed to start raining by the weekend and cooling off and I don't want to see fall because right after fall is WINTER.  <---boo hiss

We did the family holiday yesterday - HERE! - and used our new grill for the first time.  We grill food maybe twice in a year, lol.

Serious question:  While actually working today, I'm seeing Best Offer on a lot of items that I'm trying to price research.  Do people think that's a new norm or it's just ebay adding it to listings?  Really, really hard to decide on a listing price when everything has BO on it.  Also, wasn't there discussion not long ago that Completeds show the original price, not the accepted offer price?

I have some holiday things of which there are (currently) only a handful listed so it's very hard to decide where to price when someone has $8.99 and someone else has $54.99, either with or without Best Offer.

Wow, too much work talk; my brain hurts now.  Time to go hit the little ball and swig some Gatorade ...

Very inventive and unique. I'd love to make something someday, not just buy what's already made.

I live in a very blue state - one of only 3 here stores are not allowed to open on Thanksgiving for black friday.

Everything here is pretty much closed and I like it.

Reminds me of the olden days when Sundays were a day for family.

where are you getting a tropical storm? So hot here (Virginia) can always use rain for the plants.

I have something like 30 packages going out tomorrow hence the work all day today. Did have a nice lunch out with my son.

Speaking of Etsy sales ... I made 4 Etsy sales in July and one last week ... after an 8 month dry spell LOL. I've come to think of Etsy as a parking spot for listings that I want to give a break on eBay.  I have made a whopping 16 sales in 3 years over there.
