item specifics when listing

I don't know if this has been asked or covered, but i can't find much googling.

I was wondering if filling out item specifics on an item will limit visibility to an item if a buyer is checking boxes to limit their search.  For instance,  if i'm a buyer and i check a box for only red shirts and a seller has his shirt color box checked as orange, then that shirt won't show up, right? Would it show up if the item specifics were left empty?

And if so, could that be a reason people's sales have  been slow? Checking too many item specifics?

Thanks

I check whatever item specifics apply because I WANT to be shown to all buyers who are actually looking for items like my offering!

If I were listing an orange shirt but a buyer was looking for a red shirt, by not checking red.. I wouldn't exactly be slipping in.  Even if all other item specifics matched, because I didn't check RED, my listing would be still be placed down under the 'similar' listings.  And, since it wasn't what was specifically asked for, weak chances for a sale to be made.

In addition to that, the buyers who were specifically looking for an orange shirt might not see my listing positioned very favorably either, because I neglected to check the item specific color choice of... orange.

I feel like I get the best chance at grabbing those sales when I cooperate with the search instead of trying to outwit it.

If you had an orange shirt and left the field blank then you would not show up when a buyer narrowed down the search to see orange shirts, or red shirts, or any other color if a specific color is chosen by the buyer.

It's in your best interest to include the specifics so you appear to more buyers.

Item specifics are also looked at by search engines so it helps you to include them in that respect, as well.

No, checking more item specifics has nothing to do with slow/low sales.
