item removed as to embargo rules - it was necklace I purchased from Mayor's in Ft Lauderdale in 1989.
Amethyst set in gold with a small amount of diamonds was remove from my listing per the embargo rule. I included in the listing the appraisal from MAYOR'S jewelers. I did call and it was sent in for review. Makes no sense to me as I see many diamond and amethyst necklaces listed currently on Ebay with no provenance. WHY ME ? I try very hard to follow the rules. Your thoughts.

I was able to find a cached copy of the necklace listing. The problem was the country of origin, Russia, where the necklace was made:
Here is the eBay policy on embargoed goods, which prohibits items from Russia which are under international sanctions because of the war in Ukraine. Even if the item was imported before the international sanctions were put into place.

I doubt very much if it was removed because it was a diamond and amethyst necklace. If it was removed "as to embargo rules" it may have something to do with the source of the necklace. If you could post a copy of your listing in this forum some members may be able to identify specifically what caused the red flag in the listing.

Did you look up the embargo policy?
Sellers can't list embargoed goods or pre-embargoed goods from these countries or regions:
Organizations, businesses, or individuals based in the countries listed above, or those on the United States' Specially Designated Nationals (SDNs) list can't register accounts on eBay
Activity on eBay is required to follow this policy, the eBay User Agreement and all applicable laws, as well as respect the rights of third parties. If it doesn’t, eBay may take action consistent with applicable laws and the eBay User Agreement, and may even be legally required to do so. Such actions may include, as an example only: Removing the listing or other content, issuing a warning, restricting activity or account suspension.

Does any of that sound like it has anything to do with the item you were trying to sell?

Yes I looked up the rules can not post listing as it was removed. I do have the appraisal from MAYOR'S jeweler which is still in the upscale mall. No mention of anything that has to do with the embargo. Still waiting on answer from Ebay as I spoke to agent who did not see any reason it should have been removed

Listing is not longer available to me but the photos are major part of listing.
Mayor is an upscale Florida jewelry store located in major malls.
See photos and let me know if you see any violations.
Any advice much appreciated.

I don't see anything in the photos it had to be something in the listing that the bot's caught. Similar to the way a lot of listings get removed because of the use of the word "ivory" even though the item is not made out of ivory.

What ever you do wait until you hear from ebay to relist.

Beautiful necklace by the way. I hope you get to relist it.

FYI, if you get this straightened out, or if you wait until the sanctions against Russia are lifted, you should correct some things.
The chain in your picture is a rope chain, not a herringbone chain, so it doesn't appear to be the chain that is described in your appraisal, or in the item specifics from the listing. Also, I don't think that anything in the necklace is made of rubber, which is also mentioned in the item specifics.

The listing is currently taken down so a bit confused as to details.
Not sure about the chain but will check it out. thanks for the reply.

@lacemaker3
So do you think that the wooden Matryoshka nesting dolls are at risk for a policy violation?
Quick search shows: 6,400+ results for matryoshka nesting dolls.

Maybe, maybe not. The policy statement for Russian items is different than other embargoed regions; only certain items are prohibited:
So you would have to look up what kinds of items are actually subject to international sanctions. I would guess that the value of the necklace might have had something to do with it. The sanctions are intended to impact wealthy Russian oligarchs. My impression is that matryoshka dolls would be comparatively inexpensive.
