is this delivery problem my responsibility?

I shipped to an apartment and DC saying delivered to front desk of the building. The customer says the front desk will not accept packages and he didn't get the book.

Is this my responsibility?

I asked him to clarify what the desk does with mail. Return to P.O.? Throw it in the dumpster?

If the tracking number shows delivery your job is done.

Dear Buyer;

Tracking for your item xxxxxxxxxx shows "Delivered" at xx:xx on xx/xx.

The package is (dimensions, weight, appearance)

If you are not in possession of the package, please check with your front desk/office and your neighbors to see if they have your package.

You can also contact your local Post Office and find out who/where they delivered your package to.

If you are unable to locate the package, I will be more than happy to provide any information necessary for you to file a Missing/Stolen Mail report or to file a claim with your Home Owner/Renter's insurance.

Thank You

Seller

If they have opened an INR, input the tracking number into the case (not just in messages) and call eBay to have them close the case in your favor.

Rinse and repeat if they open a case on PayPal.

I would add to the suggested email that most PO's have GSP showing exactly where a package is delivered and the best bet is to check with them since they are showing delivery to the building.

While you are covered by the dc, Trinton has said Ebay expects communication to try to help buyers who claim not to have received a package..........

Absolutely 🙂

Always give a polite and professional response outlining their options 🙂

In Middle Eastern countries they have a hospitality custom of never saying "no" to a customer/guest that does not exactly say "yes" either LOL

"Of course! We will be happy to provide you with this alternative to your request"

🙂 This is how I try to treat my buyers when I can't exactly help them 🙂

To reword that paragraph:

You can also contact your local Post Office and request that they check the GPS stamp on the "Delivered" scan  and ind out who/where they delivered your package to. to verify that the package was not misdelivered. Also ask if they can tell you who exactly the package was handed to.

At times I have to "laugh" at this type of problem............I mean, what did the other 18 items/packages they bought go to?  To their home?  To their work for them to collect?  So - for this one package he/she mentioned that the Apt. Office does not collect the mail?  So does that mean - in the past their mail has magically floated to their hands at the door by another means?  AND this is the FIRST time they have had that problem?  (I THINK NOT - if they even DID have problems before - then they should have sent the package to their work so someone there would have been available to receive it for him)...tsk, tsk,  NO - NOW let's make it the SELLER's FAULT for NOT knowing that the Apt Mgr could not collect it and have to get the Post Office Involved to explain they delivered it to the Apt Mgr.

So sad and these are the people that are running the world today.  Pray hard.

there seems to be some confusion in that building. When I asked if the mail is left at the front desk they then said: \\\

"Yes, but only if the delivery service is other than the post office. We
have a mail room downstairs where the USPS drops off the mail."

I wrote back to say this WAS via the USPS, which provided the tracking number.  I suggested the GPS thing.

Hopefully, the package is in the mail room....

That.

It doesnt matter about all the handwaving in the world that they want to make up. The bottom line is that you have proof of delivery so use it if you need to. (I dont mean be a jerk about it - but if push comes to shove and he files an INR dispute then remember to upload the tracking number and get the case closed in your favor.)

It's not your responsibility.  You have tracking that shows delivery.

This is on the buyer.

It's between buyer and front desk    the mail room at this point.

And buyer never thought to check said mail room.  Ugh.

I would also add that you should mention they contact the Postal Inspection Service regarding any assumed theft of mail.  You can also state that you will be contacting them and they should be in contact with the buyer to obtain further information.  I have found that when the USPS PI's are mentioned the package normally magically is found.
