is it not a violation of eBay policy for someone to use your photos from your listing?

I found a listing that is selling my item using photos from my listing, is it not a eBay policy violation? I'm supposed to be ok with it?? Item is handmade earrings, I craft, take photos to sell...someone is charging $20 more to sell my item using my photos to sell that item- it burns me a little.

Maybe they are planning on using you as a dropshipper.

I never understood "drop shipper". And I guess that is something they can do without my consent? I did find a link for reporting a listing using my photos wothout my authorization. >>>

It would go like this. They get a buyer for your item that they have listed. They then order that item from you and have you ship it to their customer. There are sellers on eBay that do this using other websites to order from. If this happens to you the best way to discourage it is for you to raise your prices.

what I want to know is this seller has 7 watchers on the listing with higher price and 2 photos extracted from my listing, no more info or detailed description, and I have 0 watcher.

Actually, while I believe it would still be against eBay policy for another seller to copy photos directly from your listings, eBay has included language in their UA granting themselves the non-exclusive rights to use the material which you have uploaded to the site.  They also appear to have taken away a seller's ability to opt out of their catalog scheme.  So if the seller has used your photos from the eBay catalog that wouldn't seem to be a violation of eBay policy.

@7606dennis

The last time I read the terms, you could opt out of the share photos program.

But it was only for new listings, not sure about text.

  • watchers are not buyers
  • put the seller on your Blocked Bidder List
  • if the item sells, raise your prices .
  • look at his listings carefully because something is catching the eye of those watchers.

Is his title better?

Does he have higher feedback?

Is his shipping lower? Is he using Free Shipping?

Is his listing set up for easy mobile shopping?

The last time I listed, Dave, I checked my account settings and discovered that the option to opt out was no longer there.  This was around the time of the latest update to the UA.  The language giving eBay the rights to use material uploaded to the site, I believe, was slipped in during one of the previous UA updates and, if I'm not mistaken, is worded to include all uploaded material which would include text as well.
