how would you fellow sellers handle this...partial refund?

hi everyone, you all have been so helpful all the time.  I need advice yet again. I sold this Chatty Cathy clothing and shoe lot, item number :322785023763

I included a lot of extras for the buyer.  iget this message from her today:

"Hello.I received my package today. Overall I'm pleased with what I received.
However, the pajamas are untagged. The original Chatty Cathy ones should have a tag in the top. They should also have small pink roses. The ones you sent have polka dots.
Is there any chance you can give me a partial refund? I was considering this set as genuine when I placed my bids."

Now, my listing had very clear photos...I feel like she saw they were polka dots, yet she bid anyway..however I can understand he rpredicament if she saw my listing at the last second and didn't have time to verify these as genuine pj's. Should I give a partial refund or should I have her return it and I pay for her return shipping since it is my error? what would you guys do?

If its good enough to keep, its good enough to pay full price for. I agree with the other responder, tell her you're sorry she's not happy with the purchase and invite her to return for a full refund.

Do NOT give a partial refund.  She is very likely just angling for an after-market discount.  Many buyers are attempting this lately.  I don't think they deserve to be rewarded.

If this were my buyer, I would not admit that I made any "mistake" (and I don't think you made one--sometimes stuff happens even when we are very careful).  I would say this and ONLY this:  Return for refund.  If she fusses, you say Return for refund.  Ask her to use the Resolution Center.  Take the item back if she wants to send it back.  You can always re-sell and chalk any loss up to learning experience.

However, if she is trying to gouge you for a discount, she is likely to back off.  This has happened to me more than once.

Hope this works out well for you.

Without reading the replies of the faster typers ...  'return for refund'.

Your buyer was in from day #2 so set on the purchase they set a snipe bid to bid against themselves at the end. Just someone fishing for a kickback. Tell them to return it because you can always sell it to the second bidder for a dollar less than original buyer paid...

I may have to back up a step.  The outfit is one item in a lot.  I enlarged the image to something like 400% and I can't tell for sure if they're dots or small roses.

What do you have into this lot?  Can you afford to toss her a few bucks without taking a loss?

Also, you have virtually no description at all.  No mention of the pattern or tags, or not.

Typically a potential buyer should ask questions first, but you should have much more detail in a listingh for $70+ so buyers don't have to ask questions.

A very good point.  Wise sellers give every bit of information they can because they know that sneaky sellers are out there just trolling the waters looking for a cheap buy or a way to get a discount after the fact.  If you don't describe, that's all the incentive they need.

They weren't after the PJs anyhow they were after the shoes. $15.00 a pair do the math just another reseller trying to lowering their acquisition costs...

Question,

Are the pajamas specifically designed for Chatty Cathy or are they clone?

Return ALL for a full refund.

Either that or tell her that since she admits that outfit was the one that has the least value, you'll refund her a $1.

Still need an answer to my question from the OP.

If the pajamas were made specifically for Chatty Cathy then the seller is in the right as no where did she say these were original to the doll.  It could be ones that you could buy just as an outfit for that  doll.

However if these are clone pajamas then the buyer could have rightfully assumed they were all made for that specific doll, and she does have a point.

I think your listing was incorrect - you described it as Chatty Cathy clothing.  All of the Chatty Cathy pajamas are roses not polka-dots.  Falling back on the 'they should've seen the polka-dots in the pictures' isn't going to fly.  Buyer relied on your description  - which is what counts.

Now what you want to do about it is entirely up to you.  If I were in your shoes, I'd be apologizing profusely for my error and either offer a full refund on return on the whole lot or a reasonable refund for the value of the pajamas.  I'm usually generous if the error is mine - to make up for my mistake.

If you listed those pajamas as "home-made for Chatty Cathy" what do you think they'd sell for?
