Hi, i'm curious how many of the sellers who regularly read and post on the message board are still being charged the very high not as described penalty..
As we all know, the penality, once applied can take months to time off. This is because of the way very high not as described is calculated. I myself found myself in the very high not as described penalty box in early 2021, as i stated before, the majority of the snad that were being counted were verifiabley buyer misuse of ebay returns. Anyway, it took 5 months for the bogus snad's to fall off the lookback time period.
questions.
1.was your seller account every hit with the additional 5% very high not as described penalty.
2. how many months were you in the very high not as described penalty box.
3. Have you noticed in the last year-ish, less false snad claims being filed?
my experience answer are as follows.
yes,5 months, i've noticed significantly less false snad claims. However, this could be becuase of the drastic tank of sales.

Since October of last year I’ve had 2 months where I DID NOT have these extra fees. So I’ve had about 10 months paying the extra fees. Already in an arbitration battle with eBay to get these back. I don’t play games when it comes to about $5k. It’s up to eBay to show the burden of proof that I can’t to uphold their policy. I have proof for every single return, oh, and if you actually download the .csv file every month in service metrics, you will see they change from month to month what counts towards it. Month 1 some will say yes they count, then will change to a no months 2 and 3.

I have never been charged a "not as described fee".
There is no such thing.

He mean with "not as described fee" the additional 5 percentage points fee added to the original final value fee for any seller get Very High rates of "Item not as described" cases at "Service Metrics"

I got hit with it briefly at the beginning of the lockdowns in 2020, when we had a massive spike in returns for a couple weeks, but haven't had any issues since. I offer free returns and so generally get way less snad claims than other who don't. Buyers don't want to pay return shipping and will lie if they think that they will have to pay for the return. Some will lie no matter what because they can't be bothered to check your return policy.
I switched everything to free returns about 3 years ago and we saw a significant decrease in snad claims and negative feedback. I was concerned at the time that we would get more returns but it actually made very little difference to our returns rate. If someone wants to return something, they will, even if they have to lie about the reason.
You just need to decide if you'd rather pay for return shipping, which you have to do anyway with SNADs, or pay the 5% fee and also not get the top rated plus discount.
