I woke up this morning to my first case filed against me. Though tracking says the item was delivered 8 days ago, the buyer is now claiming he never received it. He waited eight days! Will ebay honor the tracking information and close in my favor or am I getting scammed for the first time? Because of this, all of my payouts are now n hold for 5 days. I'm waiting for cs to call me, but from everything I have read in the forums here my expectations are quite low. Any help, guidance, suggestions, or shoulders to cry on are greatly appreciated.

You must re-enter the tracking number into the case. In theory, it will be decided in your favor.
There's really no point in contacting customer service. There's nothing they can/will do. The system is essentially automated--just re-enter the tracking number into the case.

Thank you. Question: should I respond directly to the buyer or just enter tracking and wait for ebay to decide?

Respond only by providing that tracking number. There is no need to contact the buyer.

you need to upload the tracking at your end and respond to the open case from buyer with the tracking and add delivery date in your respons so eBay has a communication thread.
be polite with your response.

Thanks for the question.
Definitely enter the tracking number. Contacting the buyer is up to you; however, it doesn't hurt to send them a screenshot/snippet of the tracking info and suggest they check with other household members, neighbors, obscure places around their property, and their carrier to see if the package can be located (depending on the package size, etc.).
If you do contact your buyer, be super polite, professional and non-accusatory. If this buyer is edgy, you just want to make sure nothing is phrased in a way that can antagonize him/her.
Good luck!

The main reason for a buyer to get tracking is to resolve any claim that an item is not received.
You need to use the tools that eBay gives you.

As a seller, this is the "best" kind of dispute to have because if tracking shows delivery (and for items $750+, signature confirmation), you will always win the claim.
