Well, I went to relist a few items that expired without selling. Planned to list for 30 days fixed price. THen the only GTC change finally reared its forecasted ugly head. Yup,,it is here now. No longer can you do a 30 day fixed price listing without it auto relisting without change. I opted for some 10 day auctions with my desired asking price as the starting price with the listings I had available....not much of an auction!
I did open an ETSY store a few weeks back when I read the update bulletin. I will be listing my collectables there and working down my inventory on Ebay....Unless they change this "feature". Which seems unlikely at this point.
I was thinking I would play the cancel at day 29 game...but realized I would enevidably miss one of those days and be really angry when I got charged for the listings that all got rolled over. So I will work down my inventory down in 10 day auction style and call it good.
Too bad, I have been a seller since the 1990's, sold over $29,000.00 in that time, and have positive feedback score of 1,778.......slimdogslim! is sad

Exactly the same here! seller for ten years and they seem to hate me. 30 day listings prompted me to revise the listings with new photos, add new text, provide a better experience for a sale BUT nope Ebay wants it to just relist over and over again collecting fees. RIDICULOUS , i too will be starting to sell & BUY elsewhere.

I just saw that. I sell fabric and patterns that may be on there before "the right person" sees it. I will not let them treat me this way. I will give it away before I play this game. This will cost me more then I make. I left Yahoo years ago when I started having to pay for each listing. Funny thing, I was just given 2 free listings that ends tonight. Now I have found out what they are doing. I am a very upset person. They are loosing me as a seller and as a buyer!!!

@mabearsattic Not sure if you have a store or rely or Promotions for extra listings but if you list middle to latter part of any month those listings will not hit a double month of relisting for well over a year. It comes down to how many listings you get each month AND the number of items you list Fixed Price.
I have a basic store with 250 Fixed Price listings ... GTC means I can not juggle inventory and let some "sit out" so to speak while I introduce new stuff. What it means now is I can ONLY have 250 Fixed Priced listings period. If I list them all middle to latter part of the month it will be well over a year before any one of them relists twice in a month. So, as I sell GTC Fixed Priced items I simply replace them. I also get 250 Auctions so I use them up every month as well ...
Yes, its a pain in the butt but with a little forethought I will prevent eBay from getting ANY fees from GTC listings ... period.

Welcome to the New eBay! Anything to rip the seller off. Too bad there is no alternative to eBay and they can do whatever they want. Nice present, eBay, THANK YOU.

I wrote something too. I feel the same way you do. Maybe they will hear us.

If we all get together and cancel our accounts, I bet they will hear us. They want notice if I quit but if thousands of us let them know we will quit, they will hear us. Does anybody know how to communicate directly with them?

I didn't know this was happening. I tried to relist my item for three days and said ebay forcing me to do good till cancel to help me sell? how that help? I like to use 3 or 5 day buy it nows, keeps my items updated and always attracts buyers who look for newly listed items. I sell gold so don't usually need 30 days to sell can do it in 3.

I never hardly ever pay to list my items have been free listings for years. Every once in awhile they sock me 35 cents and im like what the hell

So how do they make more money with this non sense, I get most of my sales when I first list an item and when is about to end, I do 7 day fixed price to get more exposure I list around 400 items a week so that will be 4 times more insertion fees for them to collect
So by going to GTC only how does that benefit them, I sell around 15k a month with the 7 day listings now I’m thinking of going to Mercari with a lot of my listings, Mercari is very good for sellers

You do realize that Etsy auto relists listings for 4 months, right? Each listing fee is 20 cents, each month.
So how is that much different than Ebay for you?

Before you make any firm decision on what will work best for you, maybe a little more information on how GTC listings work may help you in your decision.
When a GTC listing is growing closer and closer to it's renewal date. It WILL show up in the search for Ending Soonest. It will rise in the returns as it's renewal day grows closer. Just as a FP listing will.
If you are getting most of your sales when you first list your items, then the GTC type listings shouldn't even be an issue for most of your stuff as it will be sold long before it is time to renew the listings.
I'm not sold that GTCs are going to work for everyone, but with what little you have shared here, I don't see it as a big issue for you as most your items will be sold before the renewal gets close.
Out of curiosity, why do you have an Ebay store?

I am 20+ seller on ebay. The best thing for sellers to do in response to this GTC requirement is to send ebay a message asking them to reverse the decision and hold off on listing any new items until they do so. The comment/feedback button is at the upper right of the listing page.

Regarding your question;
"Does anybody know how to communicate directly with them?"
My reply post just did (see below). I'm utterly amazed at what I've been reading here at Community Boards in just a few short weeks of reading and posting (for the first time). I've been a customer since 2010 and we all know there have been glitches and issues, but never anything like what's been happening since early February, and now this GTC issue.
To Alan, Brian, Brian, and Griff,
There are many upset eBay Sellers on numerous threads re. GTC (and other issues, affecting Sellers & Buyers). The common theme of these posts, from long time eBay Customers, is that they are done with eBay and moving on. This should not only alarm you, but stir you into action to reply, address these concerns, escalate to Leadership, and resolve quickly. Hope to see something soon!
