"But it's not like you didn't have to give Paypal your SSN to get the money from them."
Many of us that were early adopters of Paypal never had to give Paypal our SSN. It is incorrect to assume all PP users provided such.

Here is what eBay says - as is said - You can't fight City Hall (or eBay it is their sand box you are playing in).
Confirming your identity
To sell on eBay, we'll need to confirm your identity at registration. We may also need to confirm your identity at other times. If you’re a Registered Business seller, we’ll need to confirm information about your business, as well as any beneficial owners, officers, directors, or account managers.
Individual sellers (one person or a married couple) will need to provide:
- Full name
- Address
- Date of birth
- Social Security Number (SSN)
You talk as if Ebay has a choice, which is totally and completely incorrect. They are required by FEDERAL Law to collect certain information from sellers so they can verify their ID now that they [Ebay] is a money processor. So please don't try to make it seem something that it is not. It isn't "City Hall", it is the Federal Government. In my previous post I provided a link to one of the laws in which apply. If you'd like I can give a link to the Anti Money Laundering law as well, just let me know.

Most countries have or will have similar requirements and want to know who is making money and how much so they can get a cut.
When they hit a certain threshold, yes. The requirements of the 1099K. But the bigger reason for the verification of identity is the requirements Ebay now faces as a money processor to the Anti Money Laundering law and FDIC law for how to verify the identity of the person.

the term "You can't fight city hall" has been around since Hector was a pup. And its meaning is you can't fight the government whether it be the city hall or feds. Have been to at least 3 County Fairs, One State Prison Championship Rodeo in Huntsville, Texas and a goat roping contest in my almost 8 decades on this planet - lived in 5 states withe 21 different mail addresses since 1967 (graduated college year) - won't tell you how many states I have visited at least 2 time or countries have visited - 1 visited for 4.5 years on a regular basis

One more thing have my original Social Security card that I received in 1961. On the bottom in plain English & in print big as Dallas are these 3 words "Not For Identification". Yep this '44 model started paying into SS back then. Fast forward to 2008 when I signed on to eBay, PayPal accepted my "Vintage" SSN. When eBay & PayPal finally divorced and eBay was anointed the new money processor via an agreement with Ayden?? had to provide that SSN one more time....
.... and Life is Still Good or Pura Vida if you are in Costa Rico
Ciao

What you mean??
Tunneling is a way to move packets from one network to another. Tunneling works via encapsulation: wrapping a packet inside another packet. Networking basics.
The only tunneling I am familiar with was in Vietnam. The Viet Cong (aka VC) used it a lot.
