eBay denies that 'ghost listings' are a problem, but I have had it happen multiple times: items I sold showing up as a new listing (when I did not list it) and then selling again but, of course, since it alredy sold, it is out of stock. This last one was re-listed after I had already shipped the item and could not have taken a photo of it or listed it, especially since I was putting my store on vacation. eBay will not acknowledge it is a problem; it is, according to them, entirely my fault. This is beyond frustrating.

I really don't believe in ghost listings, if they existed, we would see millions reported. A glitch is a glitch and would be widespread. I didn't have any ghost listings in 20 years. There may be some bulk editing that would cause that.

I just had one last week for an item that sold on 7/28. Had to get a defect due to this. I know that some sellers just like to call this a glitch but the result is the same for the seller.

HelIo,
What has happened to me on and off over the last two years is the out of stock option randomly turns on or become active. See my attachment. Its called, " Multi-Quanity Listings: Listings stay active when you're out of stock" When you go to relist listings as "sell similar" these out of stock listings will convert to active with a quanity of 1. Luckily, I've caught it each time.
Btw, the tab I'm referring to is under "selling preferences". See attachment below.
I hope this helps.

100% - “ghost listings” are not real. Sellers that think they are a glitch and not look to prevent them are destined to have them again and again.

You Lucky, never happend to you in 20 years, good for you.
But you don't need to believe it or not.
If sellers are reporting the ghost listing issue again and again it happens.
Why would you even bother to belittle
Such a report..

A little hypersensitive are we? I don't see 'belittle'; just a statement of his experience.

Happens to us 3 or 4 times a year. That's why we do inventory so often because sold listings end up back on ebay

Where did I belittle anyone, please?

This just happened to me this morning...AGAIN. I don't know what they are doing with the servers or whatever but this is the third time in only a month that this has happened to me. A necklace sold 2 weeks ago and today I see I can send a offer to a buyer for a duplicate listing of that necklace (quality was set for 1 so it wasn't a mistake in quanity, I checked) I had to take a defect from one last week. I'm glad I caught this one today but this is ridiculous and yes it is true, there is a such thing as ghost listings.

Ghosties are absolutely REAL. We had 1 a few weeks back and I started a thread. Quite a few posted they deal with them also. E-Bay has admitted in the past they know it occurs.
It is a known glitch. This gas-lighting over Ghosties is a bit much.

I've had several over the 18 years I've been selling. Items that I know for sure sold and then would sell again and I didn't relist them. I get about 5 a year but I do also have thousands of items.

I don't believe in them either.
Just like I don't believe in ghosts.
If I ever experience either one, I might become a believer.

I'm just happy to hear I'm not crazy. I've been selling on E-bay for 5+ years and it's been a recent problem for me (this year). It has happened at least 4-5 times. Call yourself lucky if it hasn't happened to you.

You belittled the entire army of eBay Sellers by denying that a coding issue that has caused ghost listings on their accounts, and that 'BUG' has been confirmed by eBay to me and tens or hundreds of thousands of other eBay sellers for years now. eBay support personnel have acknowledged this as a problem for at least the past 6-7 years. And if you have any ghost listings, and don't yet know it, just wait until eBay threatens to close your account because you couldn't fulfill an order, all due to their system coding defects relisting items you've already sold.
