funny feedback

I once listed a huge lot of broken costume jewelry. Stated in the title and several places in the listing that most of it was broken and it was being sold as a salvage lot.

Two buyers got in to a bidding war and it closed out at a little over $300. Shipped it to a gal in the UK.
She left me a neg "It's BROKEN!". My reply "See title and description".

This was back when PayPal handled disputes, she opened an snad, I called PayPal and the rep actually called her an idiot as he closed the case in my favor

Well, mine wasn't quite as bad, as it was a +

Buyer said "nice item, but a bit expensive".

The price did not change after purchase, so the buyer saw the price before buying.

Not a one of a kind item, so he could have purchased from someone else if price was an issue.

I don't remember if I responded. It was a +, and has aged so far down that it likely isn't seen anyway.

Got to love some of the buyers. They post things like-- "OK, but thought it was bigger"   ......... even when measurements are shown/given.  I suppose not everyone reads, or even looks at photos. Not an eBay requirement.

funny feedback

A couple of days ago, I had a neutral feedback removed from a buyer who claimed a radio holster I sold him was a quarter of a inch too small. I told him to return it for a full refund. Ebay decided it was a remorse return and asked him to pay for the return. He closed the case and then left feedback claiming I refused to refund his shipping fee. A lie.

But I digress. If I had read the feedback this guy leaves for others, I would never have accepted his offer. His feedback page left for others is just pages of red and gray. Every page the same. He orders lots of stuff and seems to delight in skewering his sellers. The worst are for the books he orders;

"The book was not interesting". Is a very typical feedback left. Amazingly, none of the book sellers responded or tried to get the feedback about the books removed. Most of his feedback is about the lousy writing and book content and nothing to do with the seller.

My favorite though is this exchange between this guy and a seller:

Buyer: Item spot on - as presented. Shipping however was very shady and disappointing.

Seller: I had a feeling this transaction was going to be bad from the start... flaky

Buyer: Sparse communication and vague reponse from seller made the feeling mutual.

Yes, this buyer is flaky.

The buyer never said anything about expecting it to be new. He said he received a dirty (not cleaned) relay. I am going out on the limb here and explaining why the buyer left neutral. You said clean so the buyer paid a higher price thinking it would be clean. If you listed it cheaper as used and not clean the buyer would have had less expectations on his purchase. Wording in a description and the asking price matching makes all the difference.

you would be going out on the wrong limb then with your above observations ... the neutral you are looking at is not the quoted one at beginning of thread.

Well you only have one natural and it sounds like the item you are talking about. So you have two buyers that bought relays and had the same problem ?

i am guess you just glance at posts and offer snap observations.

- also suppose that you can not tell the difference between reason 'used' and 'not clean'.

--the not clean refers to a scorch mark left by a relay beside the one sold shorting out. item was wiped and tested and worked, and does NOT fit the description of the fb in the OP.  i did not bother asking ebay about this one today because i remember the scorch mark and can 'possibly' understand how the buyer could consider it 'not clean'.

--the feedback in the OP was because item was 'used' and overpriced.  listing stated it was used.  overpriced?  not hardly with free shipping, nor did anyone twist the buyer's arm to purchase it.  because of this i decided to do what so many sellers are doing ... so i called ebay and asked them 'how right they believed the feedback to be....ebay decided to remove it as unwarranted and inappropriate.  this question was an 'aside' question after i asked my original point for calling.  (and yes i found that seller's can have feedback removed.)

so cool, before you jump to snap opinions in the future, could you ask 'whoever' for any information you may need to form fact driven recommendations?  it only takes a little attention to details and though process ....  by the feedbacks left do they look like the same buyer?  or even the same reason?

Before you reply it is best to read what I said. I asked if there was more than one relay as you only have one neutral. You are now telling us the rest of the story. I did read and I did look before replying. It's unfortunate someone can call and have feedback removed as the buyer did not get what they expected. maybe try to write better descriptions to avoid confusion ?

what you did cool, was not read, and infer that i was using shoddy practices to garner sales, which i do resent for obvious reasons.  now before 'you' reply, lets just agree to disagree and let it go ... 😄 ... the boards here are not intended for impugning others.

I just had a buyer leave a weird false positive feedback but I'm pretty sure she made a mistake and meant to leave a negative.  She then messaged me to tell me the earrings she purchased arrived broken and demanded I give her half off.

Well one thing I've learned from reading these boards was to simply say I'm sorry that happened please return for a full refund or exchange. Rinse & repeat.

So after 3 exchanges she finally gives up and says, "I guess I'll have to keep them and you can keep your awful feedback.  I checked her feedback left for others and she has left quite a few negative feedbacks and some revised feedbacks. Leads me to believe she must leave negatives then tries to get a discount for revised feedback.

there is a little button next to the feedback she left 'report buyer'.  or you can call c/s and speak to them re feedback and statistics, who can take action re the buyer if there is a repeated history of the same type of actions/reactions with her.

I did hit the report button and blocked her. It's really just my suspicion I don't think customer service is as good of a detective as me .lol
