foxing on books

Alas I have a lot of leatherette books with light foxing on page ends. I am asking myself whether I should just dump them. So far I"ve run some through auctions with no luck. I can't blame buyers for saying "nope" and buying others in better condition. Any thoughts from experience?

I like the tips given by @silverstatetreasureboxes

There are artists out in the 'wild' who can make sculptures out of old books.  If you list more in the future with a slant towards artists, you might want to have a link to a video, or to be able to suggest that a potential buyer take a look at.

Sometimes a little inspiration can go a long ways.

Silver...love ya but it's 'gnarly' ....not being the grammar police but....

 old narley books

Oh, and books are never gnarly...old, moldy, dusty, foxed, ripped apart, etc.  People get gnarly, inho.

"

There is a local gal who takes the nice leather ones that the binding/covers are in great shape and removes the pages and they are bound together to be placed on bookshelves, etc.  She blends some neat colors and choices. "

Hopefully she saves the pages with cool pics and/or lettering for craftspeople.  She could sell them in sets.

There's a new series coming up called Zero Waste or something like that, where everything that can be re-used or up-cycled is.

Hubs and I rescued books for years and re-sold the illustrations...I still have a bin full of the covers that hahaha someday I will make into totebags.

"Is it actual foxing or is it mold? If the latter, trash."

Good question but mold generally has an odor.
