fees on a canceled order

I had a computer for sale and it sold. The buyer deposited the funds as this was my first sale.  I was on vacation and was notable to ship the computer in a timely manner so the buyer asked for a refund. Ebay gave him the refund and now I just got charged a fee. Why was I charged and how do I get that back

Can you explain a bit more about the fee you were charged? Was it a "final value fee" (FVF) on the transaction? Was it the entire cost of the item (plus any shipping, if applicable)? Was it a fee from PayPal for processing?

A little more information would be really helpful.

Re: fees on a canceled order

If you contacted the buyer letting them know that you couldn't ship and then cancelled the sale yourself, the buyer would automatically be refunded and your fees would be credited to your seller account.

If the buyer opened a case and ebay had to refund because you didn't respond, then your fees won't be credited. The buyer would have had to ask ebay to step in and in those cases, the seller also gets a defect.

But perhaps it happened differently....??

Re: fees on a canceled order

it was a final value fee. I did not get a chance to reply as I was in the middle of the ocean and did not have service. The buyer requested a refund from ebay and they gave it to him which was fine.

Re: fees on a canceled order

Call ebay, they should refund you since it was your first sale.

Make sure you have no active listings if you plan to go and sit in the middle of the ocean.
