I have been away from eBay for several years. Tried to list something today and was directed to a page to request a higher selling limit. I was denied the higher limit and booted back to the home page. The listing was saved as a draft. I was listing a $200 item and have a good selling record and have been with eBay for about two decades. Any ideas why eBay is blocking my listing?

If you haven't sold in a long time, you are considered a new seller. Many rules have changed and it is just a protection for you. I am not sure of the number of months you need to sell to 'prove yourself' again, but I'm sure someone else will and post the answer for you.

They're blocking your listing because when they see a long-dormant selling account suddenly list a relatively expensive item, their fraud detection software flags it as a possibly hijacked account. So they make you start small. That's why your selling history from years ago is not considered.

If you have not listed in a while, it appears that eBay is now setting a very low listing limit ($10 or one item in some cases) to prevent dormant accounts from being hijacked and used to promote scam listings.
You will likely need to contact customer service for an account review and to have your limit raised to a reasonable level.
