everyone's #1 fear is getting scammed as a buyer or as a seller but what do u do when ebay's the one scamming u well let's start at beginning I put a card up for auction & this wasn't a cheap card either it was a graded 2017 patrick mahomes autographed quad patch card #'d /10 & anyone familiar with his rookie cards an autographed rookie card low#'d at that will know how much $$$ this card could of went for in an auction so when I put my card up on ebay for auction I was asked about a reserve & this being my 1st auction & sale I was worried if I would get bidders I was hoping to get so I clicked on the reserve & it asked how much I wanted the reserve to be meaning my card won't be sold if don't reach the price I put in the reserve part so I thought ya I want because I was thinking this card at the time would reach 10k + but me being 1st time seller I waa worried it wouldn't get the attention as someone that has sold many cards would get & didn't want someone winning the card for 2-3k so thoght reserve was best idea so I accepted to do the reserve & it said it would be $380 plus their 10-13% charge which I had no problem with but 2 days later I noticed ebay had stopped the auction & suspended my account so i called them right away wondering what's going why did u stop my auction suspend my account & they said they did it because i owe $380 for the reserve I chose & i told them my auction never finished & they stopped the auction I didn't they said the $380 was due upfront which i never anything about pay now or a chance to decline the reserve because there's no way I would of chose the reserve option but if that payment was due upfront then why did my auction start running period so now I'm supposed to pay $380 for a reserve that never got the chance to reserve

I think most people don't realize that if you use a reserve, you have to pay that percentage fee up front, every time you list it, whether your item sells or not. In my opinion, just list your auction for the lowest you will accept and don't use the reserve. Only thing you can do now is to try to get a call back from eBay through Help & Contact to plead your case that you didn't understand the reserve and would they consider a one-time cancellation of the fee. Otherwise your selling days are over until you pay the fee. (If any of your other items sell, eBay is going to take their fee.) Good luck.
