Did you mean:

ebay store

can anyone point me in the right direction to get a better understand of the basic and starter ebay stores?

I've chatted w/ebay and talked to them on social media, it's clear they do not understand how their own store works.  They sent link after link of data that doesn't answer the questions I have.

Really disappointed in ebay support.

Thank Ken.

Its says: Final Value Fee discounts, and a coupon for eBay-branded shipping supplies each quarter. for the basic store.  But no one can confirm what that discount is.

Thanks for the note on the shipping coupon too.

The starter store is just more fees for ebay, doesn't seem to give you anything.  Wish I could get a real good walkdown of the stated facts.  ebay says I get 10,000 fixed priced auctions on basic for sports cards, but no where does it say that either.

I believe Ken stated that the shipping supplies discount for a basic store is $25 and you can use it once per quarter.

They eBay doc for stores is long and a bit hard to digest.  Some of the info is collapsed unless you expand it.  For example, here the info for the selected categories for additional free listings is detailed here:

https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/selling-fees/store-fees?id=4809#select

Here's an excerpt from above.

Store type

Zero insertion fee listings allocation per month- See: Notes for Zero insertion fee listing allocations/insertion fee per listing after allocation

Auction-style listings

Fixed price listings

Starter

                                                                                    250/$0.30

Basic

250 in select categories/$0.25

1,000 all categories/$0.25
10,000 select categories/$0.25

You can use your 'select categories' fixed price listings allocation in the following categories:

  • Sports Mem, Cards & Fan Shop > Sports Trading Cards
  • Toys & Hobbies > Collectible Card Games
  • Collectibles
  • Music
  • Books & Magazines
  • Movies & TV
  • Video Games & Consoles > Video Games
  • Stamps
  • Crafts
  • Home & Garden > Greeting Cards & Party Supply > Party Supplies

Any discount in FVF is minimal and depends on the category.  For trading cards, the FVF is 12.9% for a starter store (or no store) vs 12% for a basic store.

The only surprises to having a store (that I've experienced) are:

  • you no longer get the 250 free insertions monthly you got before the signing up for a store.  You get only what the store gives you.  Rarely will you get promotions for additional free insertion fees.
  • When using auctions, buy it now is no longer free (but you can add a best offer for free)
  • You can no longer schedule listings in advance for free

If you are all about comparing costs for what you are paying today, a basic store will

  • Eliminate your insertion fees and give you room to grow
  • Save you  12/12.9 = 0.93% of your final value fees
  • Give you $25 in shipping supplies per quarter
  • Cost $21.95/month whether you sell anything or not

Since you have over 400 listings, consider getting a Basic store.

Re: ebay store

The different store levels are outlined quite clearly, I doubt CS would know more than you can research for yourself.

Re: ebay store

I currently receive 250 free auctions monthly.  Do I get another 250 for the starter store?

On the basic store, it says 1000 fixed price, plus 250 auction (same question as above).  Also "lower value fees".  There is zero documentation on the lower value fees.  Also, ebay support said you get 1000 free to list in all, and 10,000 free in select categories (I list sports cards).  That is no where to be found in any documentation.

thank you.

Re: ebay store

Whoa that rude reply is really out of line to people are trying to help you.   You are aware of posting ID's , right?   Most of the 0 FB posters here are among the most experienced of all Ebayers, usually here over 20 years or more.   They simply use posting ID's to protect their accounts.   That's been common on the boards for well over a decade, more like 15 years-ish!

ETA:  Anyone who posts here who's an Ebay employee (referred to as pinks), has a giant Ebay flag next to their ID, so you'll know it.

When you subscribe to a store, you no longer get the free 250.

With the starter store, you get the 250 ( I thought they had raised that) and they can be used as auctions or fixed price.

The basic store, you get 1000 fixed price listings, plus 250 auctions.

With the basic store, I think the fee's are a little lower, but not sure how much.

The starter store, there's no break on the fee's.

The basic store, you get a $25 coupon every quarter to use on shipping supplies.

Have a great day.

Re: ebay store

those are good links, but of course ebay doesn't disclose what final value fee discount means in the starter store.  nor do they have answer to my other questions.  too bad ebay doesn't have good support.

Re: ebay store

If you sell mainly in Trading Cards the Benefit you will get from the Basic Store will be 1000 FP Plus the Additional 10,000 FP Listings in Select Categories (and 250 Auction Listings)

As for a discount there is No Store Discount On Trading Card FVFs (it stays at 5%)

Most other Categories drop from 12.9 to 12%  (Some like DVDs & Books - Stay at 14.6%)

Re: ebay store

Thanks.
Others verified you get 12% for trading cards vs. 12.9%.

I have a lot of store questions.. anyone else can msg me and I'll ask direct.  ebay clearly does not want to assist people.

There you go. No need for CS to research how a store works. You answered your own question.
