ebay only counts one feeback for multiple items being shipped combined. Why

One buyer won 5 postings with the agreement I would combine shipping. She sent me 5 positive feedbacks. Ebay gave me credit for one on my feedback count. This makes no sense. All 5 feedbacks should be counted. They would have been had I sold to individual buyers. What gives?

(and people wonder why sellers are worried about mamaged payments... it is because of all the "quiet updates" like THIS that a normal platform would announce or at least make easy to find)

Any transactions with a single user within a one week period now count as one feedback rating for the seller and buyer.

Huh, that's actually less stringent than it used to be.  Used to be that multiple feedback from the same user only counted as "one", even if they were years apart.

Would you really want that to be the case in the other direction?  Let's say you get a problem child from hell buyer who buys 10 individual items from you, fails to shake you down for a partial refund just because they wanted a partial; and then posts negative feedback on each and every one.

 

Would you want those 10 negs to slash your rating that severely?  Remember, on this site, buyers have somehow acquired the mindset that any feedback rating below 100% irrespective of whether the negs were justified or not is bad, unlike most anywhere else where 90% or better is still flying colors, and even in the 80s is still considered not bad?

If it works, sell it. If it works well, sell it for more. If it doesn't work, quadruple the price and sell it as an antique.

1000+ feedback and you still waste time worrying about it? Are you trying to win a contest for the most feedback?

I sort of had that happen for a lost package. The buyer left 9 negative feedbacks and all of them are visible.

 

So a potential buyer can see all 9 (which I responded to), and they show in my dashboard as 9. But for calculation of percentage purposes eBay only counts them as one.

 

I suggest that even if eBay only counts the OPs feedback as one that all of them show.

What quiet update? This is actually nothing new though. It’s been this way for many years. This isn’t a new change. And it has nothing to do with managed payments.

It’s been this way for as long as I can remember. Multiple feedbacks left during the same week by the same user has only counted as 1.

Had it been otherwise, we would have seen vastly greater numbers of otherwise perfectly good sellers purged due to unjustified negative or neutral feedbacks (back when both negs and neuts counted as seller defects that could get you banned).

If it works, sell it. If it works well, sell it for more. If it doesn't work, quadruple the price and sell it as an antique.

REALLY? i SOLD COMBINED ITEMS AND THERE WERE SEPARATE FEEDBACKS, ONE PER EACH ITEM. WHICH I FOUND UNNECESSARY.

In the REALLY early days, there was no limit on how much feedback you could leave.  Also feedback was not linked to a specific sale.  So when a transaction went south, you might see a whole page of negatives, all left by one user about one transaction.

 

Anyway, that's when eBay started implementing the "only one feedback per person counts" rule.  So that people wouldn't end up with a -30 score from one bad transaction.

 

I wasn't aware they'd changed it to 'one feedback per week per person', but it does make sense since feedback is not as willy-nilly as it used to be.
