ebay keeps changing my listings to free shipping

Ebay keeps changing my listings to free shipping.  A few weeks ago I noticed Ebay had changed all my listings to free shipping.  I did a mass edit and corrected it.  I used some of the corrected listings as templates for new listings.  Added the shipping details, checked the calculated shipping boxes on each new listing, checked them after listing them, and all showed a calculated shipping cost. That was 2 days ago. Today I checked and the new listings had all been changed to "free shipping".   The mass edited older listings are still ok; charging shipping.  Anyone else have this issue or know how to stop this insanity?

Re: ebay keeps changing my listings to free shipping

The only issue I have seen reported about this was with regard to mobile devices.  It would show "free shipping" on mobile, but not on a computer.  They sort of half fixed it, in that the mobile buyer would see there is really shipping charged when they went to check out.

I don't know if your issue is related to this or this is a new glitch, test, or enhancement in the works.  Let us know what you find out.

At this point at least, only 1 is showing free shipping.  The local pick up one.

Re: ebay keeps changing my listings to free shipping

Yeah, I fixed the rest in a mass edit. I hope it stays that way.

I use the App to list, but I always use “sell similar” as a template. I think the App has some glitches. There’s another thread in here from someone where EBay keeps putting their listings into easy pay, and reducing the listing price by 5% every week. That poor person is beside themselves trying to fix it. Most posters said it’s due to listing on the app. Apparently a bizarre default. This makes me think the shipping issue could be similar.

Next time I list, I’m going to template off something really old and see what happens. Not sure that will make a difference though because some of my listings are a few years old and were not revised or created with the app, and they changed all those to free shipping as well. I checked my shipping preferences and it’s set to calculated shipping, so that’s correct.

Re: ebay keeps changing my listings to free shipping

I have a small handling charge on all my items to cover the FFV, box etc.  If I revise the listing in one of the apps, the handling charge will be removed, every time.  Been that way for months, multiple reports.

Could be that the app ignores what's on the source listing when using sell similar or revise and whatever the default (currently) is for Free Shipping or Easy Pay is what's applied.

I know when using Sell Similar on my desktop the shipping options don't "stick" from one new listing to the next requiring me to change them over and over, then suddenly they "stick", usually just in time for me to have an item that meets the previous shipping criteria.

Be happy Ebay isn't listing your items free..LOL

Wont surprise me if one day Ebay sets prices on items and if you list over that price, ebay will put a charge payable on your monthly invoice.

Re: ebay keeps changing my listings to free shipping

I just wanted to let you know I looked at about 15 items.  I sorted by newly listed then checked several listings.  It looks like your newer listings (5 or 6 different listings) that you listed after May 24th all look like they went active correctly the way you want them.

I saw a couple listing that shows in your revisions that you did edit the shipping terms on May 23rd and the changes are holding fine.

However lots of others listings listed before May 23rd the day you did edits on shipping terms does not show any changes in your shipping terms?  I can see several edits since May 23rd but they all appear to be for price changes and description changes?  Nothing showing for shipping terms on these listings?

Is it possible you did not edit shipping terms and instead edited price and or description?

You can see what I am seeing by sorting the same way I did and checking listing before May 23rd and after May 23rd.

Good Luck Selling!

Re: ebay keeps changing my listings to free shipping

Yeah, I've been doing a bunch of cleaning on old listings. Everything seems to be holding steady now for a few days. Today will be the test. I'm going to have a sale; we'll see what markdown manager does. I'm on my PC, not the App. Fingers crossed.

Re: ebay keeps changing my listings to free shipping

This happens constantly to me. I am now having to pay for someone to take my item. This is after I cancelled an auction eBay changed last week on me. I rechecked all of my listings and now it happened again. After this sale, I am closing me account and never buying or selling anything else again on eBay

Re: ebay keeps changing my listings to free shipping

I have been having this same issue for the last several weeks. In a couple of instances the shipping cost me more than the item sold for.  I re-check my items every day but they seem to convert to free shipping just hours before the auction closes. Because of the closeness to the end of the auction I cannot go back in and delete the free shipping. If I have no bids I can cancel the auction but if there is a bid, I'm out of luck.

Re: ebay keeps changing my listings to free shipping

I was told by a customer that eBay had just given them a promotional shipping code, and that they were ready to purchase my item.  They needed me to cancel their offer so they can make a new offer for the price I had told them that I would give them.   So the item sells... I review the receipt and it shows free shipping.  So either eBay themselves or the customer manually changed my shipping with a code.  That is pretty shadey.  And to not acknowledge this is anything is very deceptive.  Down right bad business ethics.  This kind of tactic should definitely be exposed.  Why does business always have to be lucrative and borderline criminal these days?  Even beside the fact that capitalism only works for making more than you give, ripping off every one with every sale no matter essential or luxury.  The greed, cutthroat and dishonesty, in America at least, is flat out disgusting in my opinion.

Hah,  Possibly another case of EBay knows best

EBay knows that people, as a rule resist change, even when it happens to be good.

Re: ebay keeps changing my listings to free shipping

I have the same problem, people have been canceling orders & then they are somehow still able to leave me negative feedbacks & ebay isn't fixing them!
Good luck to you - I'm just about done with ebay.

Re: ebay keeps changing my listings to free shipping

I just removed all of my listing on eBay. I will not list again until I get some satisfaction they will not touch my listing again. I have listed hundreds of items over a period of about 15 years and they just keep getting worse. There have been some good changes (more free listings), but eBay has gotten way too big for their britches and with this free shipping stuff, they are going to lose a lot of sellers. They seem to be too stupid to understand we don't need them. We can and will go somewhere else!

Wake up eBay. You're losing your seller base, if you care!!!

Re: ebay keeps changing my listings to free shipping

I am having similar issues with items that are automatically re-posted by eBay.  The automatically re-posted items show up with either free shipping or "offers accepted."  Usually I am able to catch this before it's too late, but there have been several times I did not catch the "free shipping" re-posting.  Like today....I saw an item re-posted with free shipping and it already has some bids so I can't change it.  The current bid is at $17  and the shipping will cost me more than that.  Seems kind of criminal to me.
